I'm practically standing beside myself with excitement down here. It turns out that the previously unidentified tree in my yard is.......wait for it......A FIG TREE!

I thought the leaf pattern was familiar so I inspected it more closely and wouldn't you know it, there are teensy lil figlets starting to grow all over it.

My first very own fig tree :) this summer if any lil subbies want to come over and feed me fresh figs and rub my belly just send your indecent proposal to me.

Well that will save you some money and shopping time once they ripen. How handy for you! :)

My parents have a raspberry patch in their backyard that is growing like weeds - some of it has even hopped over the neighbour's fence and has gone into the alleyway. Apparently, my grandparents didn't bother raking leaves for 30 some years and with the trees removed, we had a large area to growe stuff.

The people next door have a gigantic fig tree and they hate figs. People in my area make strawberry fig preserves, just in case you get more than you know what to do with.

awww so happy for you Betticus .. I remember you saying a long time ago that was a part of your dream. Wooo Hoooo. An excellent sign for things to come :rose:

There's nothing so good as figs right off the tree. The only good memory I have of my aunt and her home in Phoenix was her fig tree.

Lucky you!

Figs with cream cheese are really good. But dates with cream cheese are even better.
