for one of my stories to finally cross the 100,000 view threshold. I think I'll celebrate with a couple fingers of Glenmorangie Signet.

Congratulations. I'm truly happy for you. I know what that feeling is like to reach six figures.

I remember when I started writing here in 2007 under BostonFictionWriter. I wrote two stories, Stripping my Mom-in-law Naked and Sexy with my Sister-in-law Samantha.

Within 30 days, I had 850K and 650K hits respectively. I couldn't believe it. Every day I looked at the numbers climbing higher, I was shocked. Then, there they both were on the first page of the all-time most read story list.

That was when a publisher contact me that he wanted to publish both stories as e-Books. Having never been published before, aside from the stories that I posted on Literotica, I deleted both stories to publish them.

He paid me a few hundred dollars and then absconded with the royalties (lol). Two more publishers and 4 more E-books later, the same thing happened. After paying me a few hundred dollars upfront for each E-Book they absconded with the royalties even though the books are still selling on Lulu and Amazon.

Now, I write stories for fans directly. Screw E-book publishers.

Still kicking myself, I wish I never deleted the stories. Ten-years later, I wonder how many hits I would have had now.

After deleting my first two mega-hits, I learned my lesson when I wrote I Love You, Mommy, under my WmForrester name. That story is still on the all-time most read list with more than 2 million hits.

Now, I have so many 5 figure stories from 100,000 to 600,000 that it's not the same excitement. Yet, 10 years ago, I dare say that it was easier to have a 100,000 view story than it is now. I'm not sure what that's about. Six figure stories are a rarer occurrence now than they were back then. My guess is that there are less viewers. I have no idea.

Thank you! I appreciate your support. I'm sure you wish you'd kept them up. Those stories would have an astronomical amount of views by now, for sure!;)

I had never checked my stories from the views standpoint. The new way to sort things with the new CP makes it easy. I have 35 stories with over 100k views. I figured they would be mostly incest but they are not. They are scattered over a dozen categories. I find that interesting.

One BDSM story is approaching a million views. The next highest is incest with 676k worth of views. Both have blue W's next to them. One for a valentines Day win and the other for a story of the year in its category. I guess that has kept them visible to more new readers.

Thanks for an interesting perspective.

You’re welcome! I’d just been watching the number click towards the century mark in the new view. It was satisfying to watch it “roll over”!

With 235 stories up, it is hard to keep up with changes. I'll watch a new story for the first three or four days and then I'll wander off to do other things. Even after all those stories, that click to refresh deal never gets old. Having at least a dozen personal trolls makes it even more fun. Sweeps are a good thing.

Hello :) Apologies for the rather forward question...just wondering why you didn't self publish on Amazon? That is the route that I am considering going and would appreciate your opinion on it. I've written a number of short stories which have been published and done very well. I will hopefully have my first novel completed in around 2 months and I was planning on the kindle upload. If you have the time I would really appreciate being able to send you a PM. :)

nosebone should try poetry!

I have a submission "Doodle Dandy-Walker" which has been up for more than two years. It has the Princely total of 608 views without the slightest chance of attaining one thousand views let alone one hundred thousand. It does however have a red thingy and 5 comments.

And I reckon Doodle Dandy-Walker is one of my better efforts. ;)

I feel ya. I have two poems up. One has 8785 views and the other has 9889. They have been up forever. 2005 and 2006, if I remember right. Both have red H's so that's good, I guess. Not s lot of views in poetry.

Thanks! I’ve been nursing the same bottle for three years!!

Nice -- congrats on the achievement!! And wow, yeah that's a celebratory whisky. Lagavulin is my go-to but now I'm suddenly itching to splurge a bit more...

I enjoy Lagavulin as well, but Glenmorangie is my house brand. The Lasanta, Nectar D'or and Quinta Rubin are always in my cabinet, but the Signet intrigued me, so I splurged. You can find some very nice special reserves from Dalmore that are exquisite and a little easier on the pocketbook. My next scotch odyssey will be into higher end peated malt varieties.

I'm just having my first sips now...not as fancy but still damn good! *slàinte*

A world of wonder awaits you!! If I ever become wealthy, look out Scotland, I'm coming over!!

Well, I wonder what you'll break out when you hit 200,000 views! I'm not much for overt sherry flavors, but some of these sound interesting. Have you tried their Astar? I do enjoy Dalmore. I tend toward the more heavily peated stuff (thus the Lagavulin, Talisker, etc.), so your next odyssey sounds mighty fine to me.
