It is OK Friggatrikaidephobes!

Today is the last one for 2017!
In the Gregorian calendar, yes. Try the Orthodox calendar for another. Mayan, Hindu, Chinese, and French Revolutionary calendars offer more possibilities.

Calendars are arbitrary and thus fun. We can sketch-out date-keeping systems to suit any whim.

How about a year of 26 two-week months? That way we can enjoy Friday the 13th every two weeks, or none at all. Or maybe 17 three-week months per year, with a leap week, and a Friday the 13th every month. 13 four-week months and one or two leap days can still have monthly Friday the 13ths.

Or we can add or subtract days from the week to achieve as many or few as we want. See, it's easy! And for more fun, design a logarithmic calendar. Or a non-decimal numeric base. Or labyrinths.

I've never heard the term friggatrikaidephobes before, and I didn't know it was the last one of the year. Very educational post! :)

Do any of the non-Gregorian calendars have a day of the week named after the Norse Goddess Frigga?

i honestly wish we could go to 13 month calendar because it just makes so much damned sense. i know it'll never happen, of course. it'd still be a great idea, though.

and yes, you idiot. the julian calendar is pretty much the same thing as the gregorian. it's about two weeks off, though. because reasons.
