Like it or not, Arab Americans are feeling the backlash of the recent attacks on the WTC. Today's headline in the Detroit Free Press says "Arab Americans expect scrutiny, feel sting of bias".
A recent survey in the Detroit metro area revealed that 61% of the Arab Americans surveyed feel that profiling is justified, 28% disagreed and 11% were undecided. The Detroit area has the largest concentration of Arabic people outside of the Mideast.
All of the politicians and religious leaders have decried prejudice against Arab Americans for the acts of the terrorists, but human nature being what it is, bias will be felt by those here who "look" like the terrorists. And life goes on.
