It seems to me that both sides have been responsible for heinous activities, Isreal and Palestine. Both leaders have caused hell for civilians. So I cannot and will not side for either one. As for America, I am not a citizen but I do live here, and I live in utmost comfort, I am relatively safe and I have rights to do as I please for the most part. I would by a horrible hypocrite if I said America sucks. I know I lived in London briefly and I moved the hellout as quick as I could. No slight against London, but it did not suit me. I doubt that any major world leader is innocent of some heinous crime against people or general respect. It does not make it right. It just makes it hard to sling mud and not be a hypocrite.

Shit now I am really pissed off... I have to agree with PP on this one. Sharon is not part of the solution... he is a huge part of the problem.

Sharon would be defending his country if he was restricting his targetting to known terrorist targets. He is not. His troops are blasting shit out of Jinen and Ramalah randomly. More civilians are dying than terrorists. This fuels the Palestinian anger and just encourages more suicide attacks.

The problem also has wider implications. We're a fairly well-informed and aware group here on Lit and as such, no matter how pissed we feel, we can in our heart of hearts see some element we can agree with in other people's posts.

But we are a small community and have no influence.

What Sharon is doing by his actions is feeding the fire of anti-Semitism. In the real world people are beginning to think of Israelis as "those fucking Jews". It's Jews who want to commit genocide on the Palestinians and Jews who are gloating over the killings in Jenin and of course it's "those fucking Jews who own the corner shop down my street who cheat me out of my fucking change".

The quicker Sharon is replaced, the better for Israel. Not only locally in Palestine, but in the world as a whole.
