excerpt from the BBC News storyA man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting the children's TV character Cookie Monster at a Sesame Street theme park in Pennsylvania.
Police say Lee McPhatter became upset when the actor inside the costume would not pose for a picture with his three-year-old daughter.

He is accused of shoving and kicking the park employee.

Altavista.com turned up several other news stories on this incident.

Is the is incident an isolated case of "theme park rage" or just another sign that society is spinning down the toilet because of decline in common courtesy and common sense?

This parent obviously did not care that actors in character costumes suffer more from heat and humidity than parents in shorts and T-Shirts do. His only concern seems to have been that the actor didn't suffer for "just one more child" because his child was next in line.

on its way down the drain i say......not to many people are nice and kind anymore........

This is a sign of the times but what worries me is the message that , that parent sent out to his child. How can we expect children to grow up to be responsible caring people if the main role models in thier lives act in such away?
It is the same problem that faces many members of the teaching proffession and others who work with children how can we expect children to respect teachers etc when thier parents are often see hurling both verbal and physical abuse at these professionals , and then we wonder at how come there is so much violence in schools.
