How is it the end of freedom?

The Generals have dissolved the Egyptian Parliament and shut the doors. They have written a new Constitution which leaves powers with - the Generals. If you think Muslims can't keep a secular government, what makes you think Mormons can?

So it's actually the non islamic Egypt, the military that is opposing the MB, that are (at least seemingly, time will tell) bringing on the end of a brief post Mubarak period of freedom.

Just wanted to clarify that.

BEIRUT — Turkey vowed to take “necessary steps” after concluding that Syria had shot down a Turkish fighter jet near the two countries’ border Friday, sending tensions soaring in the already fraught region.

In a terse statement issued early Saturday after an emergency security meeting called by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Turkish government said that an F-4 fighter jet that went missing over the southern Turkish province of Hatay had been brought down by Syria. The statement said Turkey “will make its final position known once the evidence is uncovered and will determinedly take necessary steps.”

.....

Look. First off, The Muslim Brotherhood was about to get their candidate into Presidential Power. The Military prevented that. So, they actually prevented an Islamic Egypt.

Secondly, if the people want an Islamic government, don't they have the right to elect one? Granted, I'd rather they go with a secular option, but if that's what the people want, then on the principal of democracy stopping them would be counter to freedom.

Thirdly, Egypt has no democratic tradition. You can't just take a country where the citizens have had zero real power for a vast majority of their history, and say "Go ahead, be free!" See how well that worked for the Soviets after the fall of the Czar?

Democracy is only allowed when people vote the way we want them to...that's the lesson the right wants to teach here
