Is Zizou god?

The man never fails one's expectations.

What a drama!

Zidan is well up there with Pele and Diego.

Best, Cryff, Platini, Zico, and Charlton... They were rubbish!

No he isn't.

Got sent off four times at Juventus, frequently drifts in and out of games these days.

Has traded on his reputation for ages. Man-to-man mark him and he disappears, or gets a red card, or both. That's why he was no great shakes in Serie A.

Despite the England game, he's generally found wanting when his team desperately needs him - see about the last 10 Real Madrid games for further details. The same can be said of Henry.

Great free kick, once David James had stepped aside for him, and a coolly taken pen, I'll grant you.

But having seen Cruyff, no, he's nowhere near. Not on a par with Maradona either, let alone Pele. Probably alongside Platini and Keane though, and overtaken by Stevie G in about 12 months.....

Where was the wondrous Zizou tonight?

Oh yes, he was the guy who couldn't hit the target with any of his free kicks

And the guy showboating after half an hour, when they were only one up thanks to a deflection

He was the guy taking the piss just before half time

He was the guy in the fabulous midfield, getting overrun by the Croations

He was the guy whose team has won once in their last five competitive games

He was the guy making the same wondrous contribution as Henry, against a side who couldn't beat 10 Swiss.

Still don't think he's God......

Why are you so confrontational?

What did I ever do to you?

Can't we discuss the matter calmly and rationally?

Or, should I leave you alone to finish your homework in your room?

Sorry England don't have Zizou (so far, England have never produced a Zizou).

Chilled,

Not confrontational at all - I answered your thread question with an analysis of why I disagreed with your hypothesis, based on evidence from Zidane's international and club career, and in particular his performance against Croatia, which is the most recent evidence any of us have to hand, isn't it?

I didn't say anything about you personally, so I fail to see why you feel the need to get personal with me. I've been perfectly calm and rational. You were the one mentioning homework.

However, I see nothing in my responses to your thread that indicates any level of childishness or insults. If you have a different opinion of Zidane, fine. But petty little insults and injured innocence, because I happen to disagree with you, seem to me to be a bit petulant.

But what a match tonight, though, ei?

I hope the Dutch get through, coz the Germans are pish!
