Is Voting on Literotica Broken?

I'm a new author and am not hung up about voting - neither my ego nor my sleep depend on having a high score on Literotica. However, I would like some confidence that the Literotica voting is not a complete scam or completely broken. The following facts lead me not to have that confidence:

1. At one point a month ago my story had 81 votes. Over a period of a week or so the same story dropped to 42 votes and has since then gradually got another 8 votes. How can the number of votes on a story drop??? The score obviously can drop, but the number of votes?

2. Three different places on the site list different scores and numbers of votes for the same story. My author's page lists my story "A Thanksgiving to Remember" at 4.36 (50). But the top list for Humor for the last 12 months lists it at 4.19 (57). And the top list for Humor for all time does not list it at all, even though either of the other scores should earn it a place there. This isn't a temporary issue - this discrepancy has existed for at least a month.

What gives? Anyone else seen or reported these issues? Is there some logical explanation for what I've reported, or is something rotten in the state of Denmarkotica?

1. The voting system has a sweeping mechanism that deletes votes the system's unrevealed forumula identifies as bogus votes.

2. The various rating reports update on differing schedules.

Neither of these discount the supposition that the voting system here might be broken, though.

Blue, Welcome to the AH.

1. Already answered.

2. Already answered.

3. To garner a position on the all time top list a story must have a minimum of 100 votes to even be considered.

Not trying to be an ass but did you maybe have someone "ballot stuffing" for you? even without you wanting them to? reason I ask is that is an extreme amount of votes. I mean I lose or gain 4 or 5 here and there but that is a lot.

If someone was ballot stuffing, they are a secret enemy rather than a secret admirer, because my score went up after the bogus votes were removed. But I do agree, 40 votes seems like an extreme amount of bogus votes.

There is an insufferable he who shall not be named on this site with a large but undetermined number of alts. When this unperson sees a threat to his self-imagined status as 'best writer on Lit' he is quite capable of unleashing a veritable deluge of 1-bombs to destroy the competitor's story. The Lit Management seem to be aware of this and thus the 'sweep' of low ratings and the resultant rise in your score. I suspect that he is also the source of the blast of Anonymous emails comparing a new author's writings to those found on the walls of restrooms in the less literate parts of the country. That's why one should never pay any attention to insults from any source.

So if you went up it meant theynegative votes which means you have one hell of a dedicated troll/trolls. in that case be fortunate they took them all away. Still half is crazy

I've had over two hundres votes dropped from a single story in one go but with little change in score and I'm pretty sure others here have experienced more than that. There was a period a few months ago when there seemed to be a lot of that and there was some discussion about it, on one of the contest threads if I remember correctly.

Ditto. :)

Unfortunately (or fortunately - I s'pose it depends on how you look at it), some people will vote for your work more than once. The site owners have done all they can to stop this from happening as it happens, but every now and again, a 'sweep' is performed to get rid of all duplicate votes from the same ip address (at least, we think that's what happens. No one really knows for sure). This means (again, I think) that should someone else who shares your computer network sign in and vote under a different user name, the vote will be swept because it comes from the same ip address.
