Hi guys,

First and foremost, apologies if this is in the wrong section. It seemed like an appropriate place to put it.

I'm writing a fic where a guy pretends to be dying to get laid. The female character feels bad and gives him one last ride as he's not long for this world. Only problem is, he's medically fine and is just saying it to get laid. It's a sleazy and shitty move I know, but the guy is a bit of young 'un and eager to get laid.

I finished the scene and was re-reading it when it struck me as something a rapist may do.

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

Not at all. Sleazy for sure but not rape. Any time the woman is willing -even if she is being mislead- it is not rape. Rape is forced sex you make this sound like a "pity fuck" so I don't think this will offend anyone here. If anything guys will laugh and wish they had thought of it and could find a girl that naive. A rapist would drag her into a room and hold her down and fuck her. This guy is just a con artist. No worries.

Great.

I wasn't sure if it would fall under rape as a technicality. Because it's doubtful the character would've slept with him if he hadn't said that. But if you think it'll be cool I'll carry on :)

Agreed. These women want to give a sick person a pity fuck. It doesn't matter if he's really sick or not, they think he is and they're willing to do it. He's not forcing them to do it against their will. So it's not rape.

Some guys pretend to be rich to get laid.

Some guys pretend to be important to get laid.

I'm looking forward to finding out what the girl does if/when she finds out the guy is a sleezeball.

There is something called "Rape by Fraud" and here are some Googled hits:

I doubt the man would ever be convicted of anything, but some feminists might claim it was rape if he deceived her into having sex. Theoretically, the deceiver could be a woman, but such cases are so normal as to not be worth reporting. What I mean is that women usually use artifice to make themselves more attractive than they really are. Outside of that, there is usually no need for a woman to lie about her situation; the guy will fuck her whether she's dying or not.

No, it's not rape. No physical coercion and she made the decision herself. Sure some women will call it rape--in order not to accept the responsibility for their own decisions.

I don't think it is, but while it was not physically coerced, if it was mentally or emotionally coerced, as in she would have never had sex with him otherwise, and after the fact is horrified to find out that she did under false pretenses, someone might take it as rape. She may feel as though she was violated.

But like I said, there are lots of cases that some women would classify as rape that I just don't.

To answer your question: No the site owners will not consider this rape, so post away.

I absolutely think an individual can be raped without physical force (or threats of physical force). But this isn't one of those cases, and I honestly don't think many rational people would classify your scenario as rape (including feminists; see posts on feministe and jezebel, two of the biggest feminist blogs, concerning a similar Israeli case last year).

But I do think it's nice that you asked. No one likes category ambush.

Sounds like a lie.

Perhaps there's more to the scene, a subtle descriptive not included in your narrative that brought the question to mind. If so, and you do not want to include it in the thread for now (understandable) then tee the question up with your beta reader(s) and pick it apart if needed.

Stories about rape, to some degree, are permitted on this site. Excvessive brutality is not, but some level is acceptable. Sex by coercion, such as extortion or sexual harassment at work is also acceptable, to some degree. However, the standards change, and some of the tales I wrote a few years ago might not be accepted now.

ETA: I would consider the situation described in the OP as being perfectly okay.

I think that mential coercion would also need to be extreme--and the mental condition of the woman (or man :D) would also need to be quite delicate--for that to be called rape rather than a matter of (maybe bad) choice and one's own responsibility. I think there's often an attempt to shift too much responsibility off on another person in cases where it's called rape.

What if she fucked him for her own satisfaction, her figuring that he'll die and never tell her boyfriend/husband?

There should be a way to fit in a double-double-cross in?

Yessssss. And then became enraged when he didn't die. Now a real story is beginning to develop.

Or what if she has HIV but wanted to ride bareback one more time.

He's dieing anyway, what could it hurt?

No, I think that gets too nasty. The emotions of doing him because he's dying and won't tell her husband/his best friend and then him not dying--and her realizing she wants it more from him than her husband. That's good foundation for a story, I think.

Then she tells her husband she's leaving him for the other guy. (And the other guy then gets wiped out by a bus).

<Sidewalk cafe> She tell husband it's over, she glaces up to see HIM come to the cross walk, she points to him and says, "There is the man I want, your not half the man he is," She smiled as Steve waved at her and stepped into the street. Thump!

Husband says."...

Rich husband says "OK, take a hike, bitch" at the sound of the thump.
