but why is it that many of the "Black" posters HAVE to have a reference to their skin colour in their user names??

You don't see any "white" posters choosing names like
SkinnyWhiteGuy or WhiteBootay do you???

Considering that most of the posters are caucasian, they might choose to identify themselves as being Black, and/or pride in who they are.

But there isn't reference on the most part.

Three of the males who have been posting on page 1 have references to colour in their names...

I can say for certain one of them isn't Black... just an asshole.

I saw that one too. Either he loves to fuel a stereotype or he is white and trying to help perpetuate the stereotype. Either way he is an ass.

When everyone is supposed to look beyond skin colour and racial origin...why should anyone feel that they have to identify those things???

It appears that some feel the need to label themselves. I just wondered why.

Africans have had a history of being unwillingly stripped of their ethnicity and/or heritage. In a way, indentifying themselves as such is a way to take it back.

Why do women insist on identifying themselves as such in their own usernames?

Yes, it is very racist to refer to your own race in a screen name.

I didn't feel I had to, I chose to do it out of respect for the jerks who would much rather not have a conversation with people of color. It happens online just like it does RL and this avoids any misunderstandings later.

Besides...I'm black and I'm a bitch. Hello???

Rosa Parks got on that bus years ago in order to STOP the labelling of coloured people...how is bringing attention to it showing pride??

To me...it just seems pointless and redundant.

Redheads should also refrain from referring to their red-haired status it makes my brown hair feel bad.

So have Native Americans but you don't see me running around with a bow and arrow do you?

We're talking screen names.

I guess I should throw out my "Italian Princess" and italian horn charms too. We're all equal yano, and my heritage shouldn't matter.

I wasn't necessarily pointing at you. You I sorta like. :)

It is more the obnoxious in your face ones I don't care for. The ones that try to cause arguments by claiming that colour bothers others.

Besides...you are so not a bitch...you are still in rookie level as a bich. ;)

Mia, why does it bother you so much? How is it redundant? I'm not grumpin at you or trying to be a smart ass, I'm just trying to understand. And what does a chosen computer screen name has nothing to do with Rosa Parks?

So, I assume me using "Redheaded Goddess" as a title is out of the question. :D

Say it loud I'm white and I'm proud.

Hand me a cannoli and I'm happy. I can't pass the peace-pipe with you tho, sorry. I can trade you some beer and potato though. ;)

Okay, I get what you are saying but I still don't understand why
it bothers you so bad. Is it the blatantness of it that drives you batty?

LOL.

It actually doesn't bother me...I was just curious as to why some feel the need to do that. For you...I just looked at your name as a colour that you chose...similar to white/red/orange/pink...etc.

I guess what made me think about this is the guy who calls himself SmoothBlackGuy. The first post of his that I read was him fishing for some white woman that he could use to fill with his blackness.

It just appeared arrogant. Sure we have other very arrogant people around here...but that one bugged me.
