Geez, Gerald Ford wasn't that much of a klutz. He was a competent athlete in college--he did tend to suffer the kind of mishaps that befall tall people, and then the old SNL bunch took off running with it.
As for Judge Sotomayor, she has my total sympathy...if you'll recall, the same thing happened to me last September. I was running to catch a bus, and I stumbled and suffered a spiral fracture to my tibia. It looks like her break was not nearly as bad as mine. She was able to carry on and get on the plane and all, and only noticed later her ankle was swollen. When it happened to me, my ankle would not bear my weight.
Is this something she does all the time?
If I stumble often enough, can I be the President of the United States too?
STELLA for President!!! W00t!
*has a wonderful vision of President Stella bitch slapping the shit out of Rush Limbaugh!*
My first thought was that she was already likely going to breeze through Capitol Hill in comparison to recent POTUS noms and that now the questioners were not only gonna have to careful about berating her gender and race but be aware of how it looks to yell at somebody who is hurt.
Of course that didn't stop Mr. Reprehensible from using it as fodder. Rush is an asshole.
yeah, I'll give the real person real slaps, and the fictional person fictional slaps. As long as she gives Stewart Smalley an equal number of slaps![]()
You just said it-- "And rightly so."The broken ankle is just a temporary inconvenience, and won't have any effect on anything.I doubt that anybody will even mention it during the confirmation hearings, except maybe to ask if it is healing properly or some other empathetic thing.
I will never defend Rush for any of the despicable things he says, nor will I attack anybody on the basis of race or gender. However, tell me this: If a WASP male had said something to the effect that, as a white man, his life experiences made him a better candidate for SCOTUS, the screams of outrage would be heard everywhere, and rightly so. Should anybody get a pass on the basis of race and/or gender?![]()
You just said it-- "And rightly so."
What "pass" exactly, are you thinking a candidate would get on the basis of race or gender?

And this one too. And then tell me if an ethnic woman has the right to say that she understands what it's like to live as a minority in this country.
