back in the old days when fags were fabulous, there were always fag hags hanging in the group. there were even fag hags who turned it into a career....barbra, judy, all of those drunken bitches. now, gay men aren't fabulous anymore...in fact, they're pretty boring. are fag hags another endangered species?

There aren't bars/lounges like that anymore either. "When fags were fabulous" sounds like a Netflix introspective. Guys like Paul Lynde and Liberace, were pretty fabulous. I'd say the old school fag hags(whose best friends are gay men) have all gone to that big, vinyl-clad, piano bar in the sky.

it's true. the days when wearing a yellow vest and a scarf was enough to scatter fairy dust are over. it's just not fair! i couldn't be turned into a beautiful woman if i died and was reincarnated. and you know, on a scale of 1 to 10, anything less than marlene dietrich is a dog. but i was a fabulous fag in my day!

I remember that's when gay men in America -- at least in the big cities -- went totally wild -- having two or three sex partners a day, taking drugs to stay up dancing all night, getting hardly any sleep. One early theory about AIDS was that it resulted from their wearing out their immune systems with hard partying.

Back then, gays were heavily persecuted, attacked, and like various discriminated groups in America, they developed a tight knit culture in many areas, even incorporating slang and certain mannerisms.

Now nobody bats an eye over gay men these days, and so that "gay culture" no longer really exists. They have become mainstreamed and I guess, accepted into modern day society.

All I know was back in the 70's and 80's people used to call me one. I hated that term. I just had a lot of friends. I didn't care what their sexual proclivities were.
