Is there room for one more?

Hello all! I originally located and subscribed to this site quite some time ago (tail end of last year, I believe) with the intention of using this site to provide the motivation to get back into creative writing, an interest that I had fallen away from after leaving college. Unfortunately, I ended up being interrupted with an expensive move, the search for a new steady job, and the breaking in of a few new roommates. I've only recently settled into a comfortable routine, and I began thinking about writing again - which led me back to this site. I've spent a little bit of time lurking around the forums and reading several of the higher quality stories (you as a group are to be commended, by the way, on the comparatively high volume of quality material). After considering the matter I've decided to politely introduce myself, and ask if those of you who have put in the time here would be willing to sponsor a relative newcomer to your ranks? I'm more interested in making friends among practiced writers than I am in trying to compete with them, and if your patience hasn't been exhausted by other 'newbies' then I would appreciate having a helping hand into your midst.

I'll be simultaneously writing my first submission for the site and watching this forum for feedback. Alternatively, I would welcome email from anyone who might be interested in corresponding directly; my address is listed on the site.

Thank you for listening, and I hope that this will be the beginning of a new era for my burgeoning hobby!

There are some very good articles in the How To Category and at the Writer's Resources link. (WhisperSecret's Article on Dialogue is especially good.)

There's always room for one more. Welcome and happy editing. (Writing's easy, it's the editing that makes a good story great, though.)

Welcome to Lit!

Good luck with your writing endeavors! This is a great site...and there are wonderful editors hanging about, so don't be afraid to ask for help! :)

Always room for one more. Welcome!
We like newbies!:D

Just to make sure, I'll reinterate.
The writing articles are in the story section and
not the "How To" forum on the boards,
(even though you can get some really great inspiration there from the questions asked and the responses given. Great for research in my opinion :D)

Also, set some time especially for writing. A time when there are no interruptions. Life gets hectic sometimes, as you noted. Have a great time with your writing. :rose:

Hmmmm. Just what all is involved in this 'breaking-in' process? Can you tell us in detail? I mean, exquisitely minute detail? Lie if you have to. We're inclined to be gullible. :)

One more?
Of course, there are stories galore here, so many!

Many themes, many writers, some are well written some are very bad, there are volunteer helpers also.

Write, type your story, there is also a thread to submit to if you want it reviewed and edited to the extreme, as long as you can take the critism (constructive, of course)

There are people willing to help, and of course always room for one more!

Write always, feedback can help, other than the ego boost, which is nice of course.

This site is more that writing, the discussions can be fun or helpful, depends what you are looking for, and it can also be very addictive!

So be warned, the adiction can take time away from writing!
But it is a geat place to meet people and chat. Swop ideas or just chat and make friends.

Be welcome and enjoy!

Always room for one more! Welcome.

I don't have any advice that the fine folks who got here before me haven't already offered. The writer's resources are great. All in all, we're a friendly bunch.

Good to have you with us. :)

Welcome! :) I'll apologize now for coming across condescending in the future. It's my ongoing battle. ;)

Having only recently lost my "Virgin" status, I am emboldened to add my voice to the welcome.

In time you should discover that this is a great place to go, when you wish to take your mind off your story, without taking your mind off your story.

It is also a great place to take your mind off your story, when you want to take your mind off your story.

If it should ever happen that you have no story, it is still a great place to get your mind off the fact that you have no story  until you have got a story.

Or, if - like me - you have no mind left, it remains a great place to go, on which to get off.

room for one more

Since our old friend Max Sebastian is busy with his journalism career, I will step in on his behalf.

"Looks like you've been at the furniture polish again, Quasi"

Wow - Much appreciation for the warm welcome!

Quite a few more responses in quite a shorter time than I had expected. To all of you who have welcomed me - my gratitude. And for all of the helpful advice from those of you who have offered it - my eternal gratitude! It has been long enough since I have turned my hand to creative writing that I have found both reminders of things I had forgotten and useful information I'd never learned before among the resources you've directed me to. I'm going to have to get used to all of this again... :)

I already feel as though I'm in the company of friends. I look forward to sharing my stories with all of you - and to learning how to 'master' the art that fascinated me in my childhood: the art of storytelling.

ps - to NCmVoyeur - I've already begun work on my first story, which addresses other issues entirely. BUT since you asked so nicely <wicked grin>... allow me to assure you that my second story will answer your question in intimate detail. ;)

Roommates? And you're posting an address. And you may write about them?? Well, you are welcome indeed!! How many roommates??

Very well said, now can I have some of what ever you are on?

Nope

I can do that by breathing fast, and this flu cough seems to made me go light headed for a moment!

Again panting tends to achieve the same effect!

Weren't you going to send me an audio file to listen to?
Or is my old brain scrambled again, lack of air, to many small does of my tipple?

Or just tired, ummm, could be that as it is 3.40 am here!

I need to get to my lair, I just wish I had a snuggle awaiting me!
