Is there any way I can post status updates to my subscribers?

I would like to provide status updates as to where I am in the writing process.

In case you need to communicate with another author:

Be sure to turn on Private Messages.

* To switch on your Private Messages, go to User CP (top left of this page), click on Edit Options (in the left hand column), and then tick Enable Private Messaging in the second box down. Make sure that the box titled Receive Private Messages only from Buddies and Moderators is NOT ticked. Finally, click Save Changes at the bottom of that page.

You don't have subscribers on Literotica. You could build relationships with readers through PM and/or email but I wouldn't, and for a lot of reasons.

If you go to your control panel you can update your profile page. A lot of authors do that, posts like

'Currently working on the sequel to XXX hope to have it done by..."

But otherwise not much you can do unless people send you feedback with e-mails you can respond to and you build a mailing list

Curious to know, why wouldn't you build relationships with readers through PM's and/or e-mails?

I've build hundreds, if not thousands of relationships over 10 years under 15 different names.

My communications have mostly been favorable if not rewarding.

Unlike you, I don't write custom stories for my readers. As a result I don't have much to gain from them but a little flattery. I normally get some of that anyway so I don't need to promote it.

I've had enjoyable exchanges with some readers but for the most part I prefer not to promote that. The upside doesn't offset the remote possibility that a troll or stalker could do damage to my family or my social well being.

Fortunately for me, I no longer have anything to do with my family. My social well being has been in the toilet since I moved from Boston and I don't give a flying turd about my reputation.

I'm proud of all that I write. They're just stories to me.

Much like my days in the swinging lifestyle as a swinger with my ex, I always feared running into someone I knew from work or from the neighborhood. Yet, if they were there too, then I was safe from their judgment.

In that same vein, I figure, anyone who reads pornography and erotica is just as sexually depraved as those of us who write pornography and erotica.

Besides, as a benefit, I've made lots of friends who still write me on a weekly basis years later.

A former author, a great writer, who has since left and removed his stories, would send me, and presumably many others notifications of his upcoming stories. He started after I sent him a email via the 'contact' button. And gave him my 'lit email'. He must have kept all fans who sent him an email with return address, as a group in his own email account.

Like most of us, I'm sure he kept a separate email account for his Lit fans.

It would be easy to do, but only those fans who had sent their email addy would be on the list.

In the new dashboard there looks like there will be a way to post updates to those who have you as a favorite.

Although I don't see anyway to enter updates or news.

Click Home, then Author Activity. There you'll see two tabs. Latest and News.

That's what I do.

It won't be necessary to notify your followers (which seems to be what the new system calls those who have favorited you) of your new posts. I was notified by the system today of a new post by someone I've favorited.

I was wondering if it worked that way.

That might prompt users to stop use "favorites" as a bookmark. If they have 80 current authors on their list then that could turn into a lot of noise.

There are two tabs, one list new stores of the authors you follow, the other says it's listing news from the author you are following. Yet as an author with followers I don't see any place to enter news.
