Is there any hope for my Magic Wand?

My Hitachi Magic Wand quit working suddenly this afternoon. :( It has served us faithfully for about a decade, and the motor has certainly gotten even louder/rougher over the years. But there was no characteristic overheating or anything, it just shut off for good mid-masturbation.

I'm hoping it can be fixed. I think my husband's going to get into it tomorrow and see if he can revive it. It's an original, genuine, Vibratex-licensed Hitachi Magic Wand, not the version that's sold today.

Speaking of the newer version, I'm hoping someone here has had both the genuine older and newer versions (I say "genuine" because there are A LOT of fakes out there!). Can you tell me how they compare in power, noise, etc.? Do you recommend the newer version that's on the market today, or should we spend our money on something else?

OK, my hubby found a disconnected wire and soughtered it with copper. It's back in action, for a time at least.

I still want to know how the newer HV260 model stacks up to the older 250R (which is what I have, and would buy again in a heartbeat!) in the eyes of MW enthusiasts.

Congrats on your husband fixing your vibrator. A girl without her Magic Wand has to let her fingers do the walking. :)

Soldered it.

It is an odd word.

Seems like the most likely culprit...loose wire, or a switch that was worn. I'm guessing the motors have brushes that wear out eventually, too. Those might be replaceable. It could be an heirloom someday, if you oil the bearings once in a while. :)

Once had a brand new Oster shearmaster that had a poorly crimped connection and quit working right after we bought it (darn thing was $400 too). I always tried my best to keep away from the erogenous zones with that thing.

It's nice to have a hubby with some other gifts and talents.

I didn't realize that there's a newer model that isn't built as well, or may not be. That's sad.

You know you're having fun when you burn out the motor on your vibrator. Good times!

Glad it's fixed. ;)

any mom who has ever had a child who became addicted to his favorite shirt knows.. you always have a backup of the same shirt.
I would suggest that you buy another magic wand just in case. You can't do that with a husband though.. I'm just sayin'

I knew something was amiss with my spelling of soldered, but I was tired and spellcheck wasn't coming up with that particularly tricky word, so I gave up. I'm usually pretty good with the tricky spellings, but that's a word I don't come across in reading or use very often.

Yes, I'm glad it's fixed! I got sick and haven't had the chance to test the repair yet, but I'm sure Hubby was as thorough as could be.

Someone here must have already replaced their older Wand with the newer 260 model, right? Maybe I'll have to start a thread for that particular question on the GB to reach a larger audience.
