Is there a way to let readers know a newer/edited version of a story has been posted?

You can put it on your home page, but it seems many readers don't bother with that. Otherwise the only other thing you can do is put a note in the front of the story saying its edited, but odds are unless someone is rereading it, it won't mean anything to a new reader.

A stories time in the sun is about a week tops, after that new readership trickles unless you're on a top list or if you're in a contest.

Thank you for the response.

I thought that would be the case but I thought I’d ask in case I missed something.

You can even post a comment on the story that has been edited, but comments get buried quick.

Even make a note in your signature and everytime you post a comment people will see it, a bit of overkill on that.

Some people have signatures turned off because some are just too obtrusive.

You can advertise new stories (or in this case edited stories) here:

But I doubt anyone who's read it once is going to really care that it's been edited, and read it again.

Edits, I think, are of more concern to authors than writers.

You're better off writing the next story, I reckon, than fussing over your last one.
