Is there a new trick to posting a comment on your own story?

I can enter the text, press on "Add New Comment," and nothing happens. I used to get a message saying the comment was being moderated. Now, nothing.

I tried it this morning and waited all day to try again, just in case it would be posted without notifying me, and nothing went up. So I tried it again this evening and so far I have the same result.

That really sucks. I have always wanted to add a comment myself, but I never knew how. If you ever figure it out, please drop me a line.

Ben

Like you said, we used to be able to do this just like leaving any comment.
This is another effect of the 'upgrade'

I noticed that some comments don't show up until hours later. Not just comments on my own stories, but when I do it for other stories as well.

Comments are moderated, so that delay is normal.

How do you comment on your own stories? I used to be able to do that, but now I can't.

I just go to the comment section of my story and it's there. I just checked to make sure that area is still good for me. I don't know why you can't.

The area is all there for me, but it doesn't work. Step by step, how do you post a comment on your own story?

Don't quote me on this, but it can take twenty-four hours or more for a comment to appear. It will be there eventually if you just have some patience.

They way its set up for me, underneath the text field there's a button with my username name on where it says "post as" and I click on it.

If you have something different I'm sorry I can't help you there. Maybe you can send the administrators a message or ask the question in the support forum of the message boards here.

I think I failed to post the reply. Maybe things are a bit glitchy now, but I haven't had an issue with this in the past three years.

I click on "Post as" and I get the option to post as anonymous. Gimme a second or two.

This may be the issue. You can't make a comment from your author's page - the one that lists all your stories. You have to open the story itself and go to the comments.

- I just posted a test comment in an old story and saw Overcritical had given me a 3. He must have liked it. ;)

No, I have that.

I typed my reply, selected "Reply as" without changing anything.I got the message that my comment was selected.

If that's the way it's supposed to work, then that seems really obscure.

Edit: I could swear I did that before and it didn't work. I guess I'm back to writing.

I just went to one of my stories and submitted a test comment. I'm logged in, so I had the option to post with my account name or as anon. All I did was fill in the field and submit. Simple - I use a Kindle as my reader - I wonder if your problem is device dependent?

I don't think the device has anything to do with it. I too tried to post a comment on one of mine just yesterday, it wouldn't, didn't, work. Two days ago I could just like on any other story.

I have also notice that the Newest/Oldest links are gone. I think since they disappeared you can't comment on your own stuff. Just a thought.

For anyone having trouble posting comments on your own stories, can you let me know which version of the Story Page you are using (Classic or BETA)? If you can directly link to a story that you are unable to comment on, that would be helpful.

I just tested commenting on my own test story and it worked fine:
https://literotica.com/s/test-please-approve-this-story/comments

That doesn't mean there isn't an issue, it just means that it isn't the same for every user. The more information we get about an issue, the faster we can hopefully track down the issue.

Thank you! :D

Sorry about the problem.

You should be able to sort by Newest/Oldest on the Comment Board for any story. The URL is:
story-url/comments

If the option is missing from a story, please let me know and I will try to figure out why. :D

I was using the beta page. I don't think it was a bug. It just wasn't clear to me that I needed to click on my name to post the comment. There's a link at the bottom of the comment block with the text "Add New Comment." That seemed to me like the obvious thing to click on to add my new comment, but it didn't work that way.

My last author reply comment on a story took over twenty-four hours to post. I've just submitted another one. I'll see how long that takes to post.

LATER: it registered on my author's page as being accepted almost immediately and the count of comments has gone up one, but the comment has actually appeared yet on the version in the public file or on my own Works page yet (an hour later).

AN HOUR LATER THAN THAT: My comment now shows in the file version. So, two hours from submission to posting to the viewable file.

I never thought about that link causing confusion. With your explanation I see how it could be confusing.

The link was added because BETA users wanted a fast way to scroll up to the comment form after reading the last comment on the page. Clicking that link takes you directly to the form where you can make a new comment.

Maybe we need to change the wording of that link to make it more clear? Or do you think we need to make the comment form field more visible?

Thank you.

I like simple solutions, and clarifying the text seems like the simple solution.

Well, I did a trial comment on one of my own stories and it went through in a couple of hours. Now,if I could only remember how to delete comments...

Bring them up on your Works page, open comments, and click on the trashcan on the right for any you want to deep six.

On your story list, go to the story title, click on the speech bubble, select the comment and delete.
