I edit, but I have had no "training". Let me give you an example of how I edit. Please share how you edit if different.

DRAFT:

Them titties was BIG! And that pussy were HOT!

MY RESPONSE:

[Them titties was - Her breasts were] BIG! And [that pussy were - her pussy was]HOT!

I use red for my suggested changes but I don't know how to replicate colors here. I hope I have provided enough to imply my method of editing. If yours is different please share. If there is a Lit standard, I am your willing pupil.

Thanks in advance.

To use color, simply highlight the part you would like in color and go to the "color" dropdown, the rightmost dropdown above where you type your message. Does that sort of help?

Also, I really don't think there is a standard at all. LadyC uses the editing feature in Word to edit my stories, which I like just fine.

Jen is right....I don't think there is a "cookie cutter" method that Lit writer are expecting. Just as long as you and the writer are on the same page and you both agree on a method of editing....then this method is the one you use.

Take me for example: I always use the reviewing feature of Word to edit and comment but when a writer tells me (if and when he does) that this method is annoying the hell out of him I always try to find a middle ground with him so we're both happy.

A few of my writers even got me to install WordPerfect as they only use it and converting the story in Word and then reconverting it to WordPerfect for them fucks up my edits big time....so, for those writers who only use WordPerfect, I know to open my own copy of WordPerfect and do the review and edit right there.

I like this method, but pointing out the line and the change works very well also...
