Is there "a nature" of "human nature"?

This is just a random thought, but if you don't believe in human nature, then how can you explain why communism dosen't work? The theory is very good, with all sharing in the bounty and the work, each giving according to their ability and taking according to their need. Yet all utopian ideas fail from the collective, to anarchy and all across the spectrum.
