The question has been vexing me for a while now. I have always thought that God existed but have never been sure. Is there a God? And if there is a God, is there an after life? If there is an afterlife, what can be expected? Will we be judged on how we chose our lives?

Any thoughts are welcomed.

No.

The bible is mythology like any other myth cycle, but we believe it because its "our" myth cycle.

Example. Sin was unleashed upon the world when Pandora opened a box she was not supposed to

ha-ha! Silly Greeks what a funny story

Everyone knows sin was unleashed when Adam ate the apple he wasn't supposed to, big dummies:rolleyes:

For as long as man has existed we have wanted to believe there is someone looking out for us and there is a better place than this. Its called wishful thinking.

Shame is all these religious wars, the Islamic State killing over their own book of myths....they're killing for nothing. There's nothing for us but what we have here.

We live on in people's memories. For some of us we live on in music.

God as a "person"? I don't think so.
God as the source all all "this" whether you call it energy or vibrations or the Void, I believe so.

Most things in this life arise and fall so I believe there is something after our bodies drop, maybe nothing more than another state of consciousness.

I don't believe we are judged, I believe what we put out we get back, and how we chose to live our lives determines what kind of life we will have.
I believe intention is everything and if your intentions are good you can fuck up all you want and will not end up on the grill in some underworld steam bath.

A random chaotic universe would have exhausted itself long ago, if things just went on and on forever. I mean, there are natural laws that eventually turn off the lights and lock the door. It started sometime. The question is: WHAT IS GOD?

Equally good question. i have been thinking about my end of life and am not sure which I fear more, the lights simply going out when I die or there being an afterlife and being accounted for my existence.

so, asking what is God is equally apt.

Nobody here has died so you can't say there is are isn't a afterlife.
Nobody here is Adam or Eve, so you cannot say if there is a God or not.
Nobody living really knows the truth, therefore what ever you believe is true.

Those thoughts have never crossed my mind.

Byron was kind of looking forward to feeling his dying but he didn't get a chance to feel it. I never got the idea that he was at all afraid of death or afterwards.

His ghost did complain to me in a dream that he was cold and they took away his clothes and boots! when they cremated him so you might want to make arrangements to be buried fully clothed.

I found I didn't like his body being alone from when he died to when he was cremated but I am sure that is just cultural conditioning.

Byron's ashes are with his mom's in the mountains they loved. I guess that gives me some peace. If I die before his dad does, I would like to be there too when they take his dad up.

On the other hand I don't really believe he is there, although his ashes are, because if I did I would worry about his being cold. He didn't like being cold.

Is there a GOD?

Well...If you were to find a watch in the middle of the dessert would you think that it just evolved into a watch from natural causes? You would assume that something created that watch and there is an intelligent designer. Now we are way way more complicated than a watch! Therefore, there IS an intelligent designer!....This would be God our creator!

Chaotic implies areas of stability.

;)

Of course, most people do not understand the technical term chaotic other than pretty fractal pictures...

I will strike you dead for this heresy my son.

Yeah... and have you ever seen a banana?!?!?!

It has a handle! Clearly that was created by god for humans!

What is it that makes humans self-aware, the thing that separates us from the other flora and fauna that inhabit this earth? What happens to that consciousness when we die?

Somebody has been handing out mushrooms on this board!!
