That is the disconnect. You have a lot of working class people who hate the owners of the company that employs them, but worship wealth to the point they assume anyone with money must be blessed by God.

but i'm trying to understand the support he's getting, i'm seeing it as a reaction to the leftward direction the country's taken in the past few years. obama has been a centrist overall, but the rise of liberal groups and the decisions of the supreme court haven't been universally accepted.

as with bernie, there's many people in this country who feel that their voices haven't been heard and here comes a different kind of candidate who's message resonates with them. and as with obama, here comes a candidate who charismatically captures their attention. rubio has little charisma, cruz has even less.

even so, i don't see trump ever getting the support of the gop in any large part, and his niche support won't translate to a popular vote victory

Now having said that, In my personal experience God very much wants people who believe in him to be Baptized. I might add that even Jesus the son of God was required to be Baptized...sought out Cuz John in a river Baptizing people as per his instructions.

I myself (I am ashamed to admit) was to be called by God to be Baptized.

When the "Hound Of heaven" wants you to do something He will ramp up events until you get the message. He is certainly not above getting physical along with the message to encourage you accomplish what he wants you to do.

Now I know some wise ass is going to spout off about How did I know it was God? or from God?

Two reasons. One it falls in line with the word of God and two...Really, you think SATAN would send somebody to a real church and a real pastor to be Baptized?

Well, no. He would do every thing in his power to derail that action!

By the way they fully immerse people in the water there.

Personally I view I baptism as an act of submission and I think that is the important thing. However when I shower or bathe to get clean I do go the whole body on it. Sometimes, symbols do really mean something.

You mean GOP-controlled House, Senate, SCOTUS, and most statehouses and governorships? And ever-tightening limits on choice, speech, protest? In which alternate universe do you reside?

Problem: Pols make promises. GOP pols the last couple generations made lotsa impossible promises: get rid of Social Security, Roe vs Wade, ObamaCare er I mean RomneyCare (the GOP reaction to Hillary's 1990's Universal Healthcare push), gun registration, environmental controls, et al.

GOP pols promise all this shit and then can't deliver. GOP pols aren't willing to compromise with Dems to get stuff passed, especially safety-net destruction. What DOES pass is corporate enrichment because, hey, pols are owned.

So our political system only benefits the rich and screws everyone else. Does the nation "swing left" in response to reality? Sure looks like; hence Bernie love. Does the nation "swing right" in response to wingnut propaganda? Yeah, that too. And Tromp promises to cut the hearts from corporatists by killing the supply of cheap foreign labor in both blue- and white-collar realms. Do under-employed citizens respond to that? Yup.

As for an Anabaptist leader: I haven't noticed many Amish, Hutterites, or Mennonites running, alas.
