Just found out this morning in the paper that Peggy Lee,
famous for songs such as "Fever", "Manana", and "Is
That All There Is?" passed away late Monday night at
age 81. What a lady, what a legend!

12pm right now EST .......playing "Fever" in honor of her.....

As the famous Benny Goodman said way back in the day:
"There's no one else like her, and I presume there never
will be."

Peggy, you will be missed.

Yes, I heard the news yesterday morning.
She will be missed. Her voice was smooth like the soft breeze along a furrowed brow.

I just read different articles on Miss Lee.....(on the web
via her website www.peggylee.com, which is run by
her daughter Nicki Lee Foster)
from the NY Daily News....to Chicago Tribune...to
Hartford Courant.....Boston Globe.......

What I didn't know was that she had a part in winning
back lost royalties from the sale of Disney's "Lady and
The Tramp"....she had helped write songs for the
animated classic and even sang "He's a Tramp" in the
movie (by a dog, appropriately named "Peg"). There
was another item in regards to lost royalties from
Universal Music.....and just before her death there was
a pre-approval of awarding the royalties to her and
other artists named in the lawsuit.

Loss

Peggy Lee set standards for other singers to follow and wasn't afraid to sue major studios and recording companies when they used her music without permission. A real loss to the music world.

Fallon2....

I agree......how many "great ones" will be here from this
generation of musicians/artists? No one would top
someone such as Peggy Lee musical and artist-wise.

I was even surprised that MTV.com had an article
about her....didn't see anything yet from VH1.com
which is surprising because they tend to go back
into the past re: musicians, etc. I'll have to check that
later......
