Is my sigline obnoxious?

Do you think it's too long or just fine? Does it detract from my posts?

Does it even matter?

This is a brutal abrogation of the topic...I apologise for any inconvenience. It deals with SP's Location.

Now - to your "location". Although it is a nice citation, it is - alas - inaccurate. I wouldn't take much issue with it, but I do have something of an attachment to religions - as a subject of study, not particular devotion.

Religion does not try to compartmentalize. Certain brands of christianity, in particular the more puritan protestant (fundamentalist) varieties perform this obnoxious deed.

Certain religions are far wiser in their attitude to sex - Islam and Hinduism being a case in point, tho' certain flavors of Daoism also smack of sexual optimism.

OK - just edited out some learned text, which would probably bore you.

Oh - the sig. It's a bit... long.

BTW - it's not your photo in your avatar, is it?

Have a good night!

It's a bit long, but doesn't bother me that much. I've been known to dabble in lengthy sigs every now and again.

no don't edit out the 'boring stff'- I'm interested!

maybe i should have said "mainstream U.S. religion":)

pic is not me- fiona apple (not particularly a fan, picked her out long ago for 'apple week')

what part of my ligline do you think i should eliminate? (I'm probably going to crop the extra links at the bottom)

IMO:
I tend to get slightly annoyed when someone's sig is longer than most of his/her posts. And those damn "Which whatevercliché are you?" quizilla thingamajigs are just silly.

Does it even matter?
Not really no. :) But you did ask. Do what you like.

No, No, and No in that order, or any order you want to put them:)

Earl, I just got to reflect: Your tagline says "Only 2 days" and your AV is of a nutcracker. Sounds painful.

I try to remember to 'hide' my sig when i have a row of posts, or a really short or really long post.

On the GB, posters are highly annoyed by siglines that are long or have graphics. On the AH, I think we have more tollerance and more variety, but I noticed that my sig is growing and may need to be pruned ever so slightly. However if it doens't bother anybody on the AH, I may just leave it as is. I like you all more than the GB folks, so your oppinion matters more:)

In my opinion, a signature line should be like a woman's perfume: intriguing and lovely and leaving you wanting more; leaving a spell surrounding you as you move on to the next post. People with sig lines that are too involved and flashy are kind of like the bores at parties who keep on talking to you while you're trying to get away. They try too hard.

But really, I'm iused to to most of the sigs of the AH regulars, and
I'm used to you, SNP, so I just take your sig line for granted. But, well, maybe you're getting close to the limit?

Pinching what someone else said in relation to public comments, isn't this a question of luxury?

As yet, no pretty picture for me, but I enjoy reading what others have to say in theirs. If I feel it's too bloody long, I won't read it. Freedom of choice and all that crap.

So the short answer is, No.

how I'd like it

SnP,

The story excerpt is good. from: THE STRANGER by and SWEETNPETITE. could be put into one line in different colours so people know they are different links. I'd do away with the cartoon chick but I don't really mind it much. The links at the bottom might follow each other without space between them. Cutting some space here might just give you a shorter piece in length but keep in all the stuff you want. Just an opinion.

Edit: I totally forgot about sizes. Playing around with text and links in different sizes is cool too. A small size with bold works wonders. See Ice's sig. line for an example. :)

I have to say, I'm not even male, and I cringe when I see it. But it does have a very christmasy ring to it! ;)

I concur - you should probably put the various links in a more "compact" format. Would make the sigline a bit less hefty.

As to Jessica Rabbit, she can stay...still remember the two metre one my brother painted on my sister's wall :p. However, she's not particularly petite, I think.

As to the religion bit...I'll just start up a new thread, shall I?

Your sigline is obnoxious.

It doesn't matter because you'll do whatever you want anyway. Who gives a flip if one has to scroll past the exact same thing a hundred times just to see the next post? Besides, you no doubt reason as many others do, if people don't like it they can just turn sig-lines off. Nevermind that they'll miss out on the links and witty things that others use in their far more considerate sig lines.

I personally think that a sig line should be minimal because the important thing is the post, not the sig line. You're distinguished by what you say, not by the flashy things you put in your sigline. You want to be an individual? To show your personality and who you are? Do it in your posts where it matters. Siglines don't matter because people frequently just shut them off to avoid annoying ones like yours. Hell, people steer clear of an entire forum because of sig lines like yours. Of course, if you'd rather have people get know you because you're Quizilla's Jessica Rabbit than by what you've got to say, that's on you.

Yes to all of the above. But so what? It is you.

Your siglines, like you, have never been obnoxious as far as I am concerned. It's like a style of dress. You keep the same style for awhile, then your mood changes and you make a change in your dress. Wear what you want - even in your sigline.

Jessica and quizilla are annoying to me.
I DO like links to people's stories.
I find i zoom past your jessica (who I LOVE BTW) and had not even noticed story links.

my other penny is for your AV...Fiona looks in stress there, maybe even palsied (is she?)...and ihave always prefered to see actual people or their work. If not that, then something which represents them....MAYBE to you she does somehow "represent" you.

Fiona and Jessica both represent me.

I found the fiona apple av while searching for something 'different' to use during 'apple av week' a while ago and decided to keep her.

Like her, I look young and maybe even hungry:) Physically she is a representation of me, especially in my mind the 'jailbait' connotation. About the only thing I know about her is that she has a song that is either titled or contains the line, "I've been a bad, bad girl" which I wanted so badly to post atop her picture (but is rarely noticed, it seems) but when I first got her, I didn't have the posts. On one hand, it's a brag and on the other hand it's a confession, either way, it's true and sassy and fun (in my opinion) and doesn't really make sence without fiona in the av.

Jessica is also a physical representation of me, or at least the picture I have of myself in my mind. Sexy, glamourous and stacked:) I *can* be those things when I want to;) Someone commented that she wasnt' particularly 'petite' which I suppose it true, but we also had a discussion of what constitutes 'petite' on another board. Is it short? skinny? tiny in every way? I'm short- 4ft, 101/2 inches tall, but (and this is not a personal add) rather large breasted. C-cup naturally, currently and temporarily a little bigger. So I'm petite, but I have curves. Jesica represents my 'dangerous curves' half. And I like her little catch phrase, "I'm not bad- I'm just drawn that way." (I used to always like to say, "I'm not bad, I'm just misunderstood" but I've adopted Jesica's line intead.)

The links have a self explanitory purpose, and my main hope was that my story quote would be a hook to interest people in my debut Lit story. I assume that people probably read it somewhat 'accidentally' the first time, and then skip it thereafter. The new links at the bottom were in the hope that they *might* attract attention to a couple of my 'poems' in order that they might get one or two votes:) I don't expect 5's or anything, but they are short and unpretentius and I hoped that anyone who chanced to click on them would follow through to read the few lines on the page.

Everything else, including the 'location' quote is carefully selected to give a particular image of who I am, that I think represents me fairly well, although not necessarily in a perfeclty literal way, perhaps not far off.

So there is my reason. Every part of my sigline, and the rest of my 'package' is carefully selected, nothing is random, or just there to annoy anyone. I'm not against maybe shrinking down some of my links- when I figure out how to do that- which isn't going to happen until I feel like taking the energy to learn something new on my computer:)

Like I said, everything has a perpose and sence it is *not* to annoy, I figured I'd ask. Like I said, I've been 'attacked' on the GB over this- and over my terrible annoying habit of trying to *defend myself* and my choice. No one hear had ever really said anything, but I thought, either they don't mind, or they are just to polite to say. (I should have known it wasnt that one;))

So anyway- that's my 'excuse' I guess. I'll shut up now, but I'll leave you with this:
