is literotica a porn site?

i've seen a few people refer to Lit as a porn site recently in their posts. just womdering how many other people view Lit as a porn site? I have my own ideas but am curious as to what others felt before I shared my views.

Without trying to split to many hairs here , in my opinion LIT isnt really porn . An adult site , yes , without a doubt . Although the general board seems to be under different rules and guidelines as to what can be posted , the other boards are moderated and on a regular basis have pics deleted and removed by mods for violations of 2257 etc... but when I think of actual porn , as I know it to be , LIT isnt it . Just my 2 cents ......

I came here to read stories, and to write and post them. I hope my stories are erotica, not porn. (Maybe I'm a bit of a snob that way?) But there is a lot of illiterate porn on here, despite the name Literotica...

lit is what lit is, you are right.

i've just noticed people refer to it lately as a "porn site." obviously there are some similarities and some differences. you are right it is hard to label. all i know is if i'm looking for porn for jerkoff material, i don't think of lit first. there are those that may use it in that regard and that is fine for them. i'm just your curious as to how many regard Lit as a porn site rather than something else.

maybe i should have clarified this to mean the discussion boards rather than Lit as a whole.

If you look at the current US government definition, then yes Literotica is a porn site. Most people think of pornography as being sexually explicit or degrading, or honestly only visual.

By the definition Lit is a porn site because it contains stories which contain descriptions of explicit sexual behavior. Now that being said...

I joined Literotica at the suggestion of a friend who thought my writing would be great to have shared. My writing centers around pleasuring the female companion in the story not the male. My writing as posted on lit does center around the sexual aspects of the relationship. Not all stories on Lit do to the same extent.

i think the three of you are getting at the same thing. although lit may contain pornographic type images, it's also an outlet for self expression, be it one's posts, one's writing, or ones pictures they post

i don't think its always best to define something based on what the US government says. or even what most people think. i believe you need to look more at the implications of the word than what Webster may say.

i haven't read your work but it doesn't sound like porn to me. porn to me is "jerk off material." it is produced with no other goal than to sexually stimulate. although the writings and images here can certainly be arousing, and that indeed may be the effect the contributor is after, the word porn doesn't give justice to most people's contributions.
