Is Lit Slow?

Is anyone else having trouble navigating Lit? It takes several minutes for me to go from one window to another, and this has been going on for a couple of weeks now.

You're not alone. I've had windows time out. Frustrating on what is supposed to be a fast broadband connection. Then it suddenly goes normal again.

Only the forums, at certain times/day. Probably when all you yanks are up and about. The rest of the site? No problem whatsoever. And nothing have timed out here since mid-September.

Yep, the problem is pretty spasmodic for me, but over the past couple of days it seems to have got more frequent.

Just a few instances of it here Dr_mab but not too bad on lit, although two other V Bulletin board format sites I visit have been shit slow lately, one taking 6 minutes to load each reply page, I've had to write to them and give up until they fix it, may be an overloading thing with V Bulletin format. God knows I'm no expert.

Very infuriating though isn't it, makes one feel like giving up on a site.

I haven't had any problems within the stories, but the bulletin boards have been really horrible lately. I'll be zipping along without a care in the world, when all of the sudden, wham!, the next page takes a long time to load (I have waited over 5 minutes on some pages.)

So, dr.M, you are not alone in this.

I'm thinking whatever server they've got running their BB gets overloaded very frequently these days. I don't know whether they've got some sort of memory leak or anything like that. It isn't the connection to the lit server, and it isn't the main web server that sits on port 80 - It's whatever they've got sitting on port 81 that handles the HTTP traffic for the boards that's having problems.

Or it's the board's db server behind that that's having a junkload of work to do from time to time.

Dear Dr M,
I have that problem sometimes. I think it's because some of the sheep escape from the stories and stand around in the road, holding up traffic.
