Is lit slow for everyone or is it experiencing a DOS attack or is it just me?

Now before you say just me, I'm not experiencing slow downs on any other site, just Lit.

No, very slow here too - and as you say, everything else is fine. Plus I just scanned and updated drivers, etc precisely because of all the talk of Trojans.

It's been slow all day here and last night it was down a couple of times.

This sucks

It truly blows here. Very annoying. I thought it was just my shitty satellite connection, which is all I can get here. So maybe not. But they still suck.

Probably the NSA is downloading everything, so you have to wait while they all whack off.

Yes, extremely slow for me as well

I have tried everything to get it back up to speed and like others it seems to be just this site.

Yep. Why couldn't it be my gradebook that wasn't cooperating?? Then I'd have an excuse to procrastinate!

Sometimes the story-server jams. Sometimes the forums ossify. Less often, the Android app is recalcitrant. That's just life with LIT.

...not the Android app this time - it's slow on two different devices and two different browsers, neither of them IE (lol)...

NManu is probably doing an update or has a server down.

I got a "server not found" when on Literotica earlier today. It's about the same as a "shit happens" message. Live with it--at least we're not losing a connection with a site we paid big bucks for.

Yes, last night and this morning for me, now it seems much better.

Slow at times here. Periodic server problems. Last night Lit forums and story site were both down for two hours that I know of. Very annoying.

When you have a couple of million hits a day, shit happens.

I was wondering if the site might be under attack. The messages, the sometimes working and sometimes not, are what you see with a DDOS attack.

Well, yeah, but it went from perfect to daily outages, then last night it was two hours. That is not minor, even for Lit.

You were not around for some of the updates we've had over the years. Two hours is nothing. Things are far faster and far better than they have been in the past, believe me.

I've been around long enough (over two years) to know that a two-hour outage on Lit isn't the longest outage Lit has had, but after a recent and long perfect run, two hours is a lot. The op asked a question. I gave my feedback. I don't know what's causing the current server problems, but I would assume that this is something that is annoying to a lot of members, and I would also assume that the owners are doing what they can to solve the problem.

Agreed on all counts

I'm glad it wasn't just me. Well, everything seems to be back to normal, as if there was ever anything normal about this place.

All the ass-kissing aside, it aint 1998 no more, and 99% of service problems aren't WTF novelties.

Except that it happened again, about an hour and a half ago for me (and I'm guessing for many others as well). My assumption is that Lit is "experiencing technical difficulties" off and on again, and has been for at least a few months now. It could be because of a transition to HTML5, or for any number of other reasons. Maybe one of Manu's servers got a hiccup.

Meh, it really makes no difference in the long run. Laurel and Manu want to keep the site going, so they'll keep working to insure it does so.

Wow, Jimbo, you actually posted something that wasn't complete rubbish. Good on ya.

Except that, when it comes to dealing with, and countering, the current spate of Internet problems, it takes a little more than old-fashioned know-how to get things cleared up.
