Is it time to sadly admit…

…that 5/8th of the way into season 3, The Mandalorian has no clue where it is going.

I really hope to eat my words and that Favreau turns it round in the next three episodes, but I’m beginning to have my doubts.

The two “Mando” episodes of TBOBF were better than season 3 so far.

Do you need to know where it's going to enjoy it?

I like a show I can't predict.

There was a sense of purpose to seasons 1 and 2, which is - so far - sadly lacking in season 3.

It probably helps to know Bo Katans backstory in Clone Wars and Rebels. Not sure how much of that you watched lol.

I like SW, but my fandom hasn’t extended to the animated series. I’m kinda a SW fan lite.

It's all good; I can't get my GF to watch the animated shows either lol.

I do see a direction It's headed, but I can't predict how it will get there.

I believe it's heading toward the union of Bo-Katan Fryze and Din Djarin...

There is A LOT in the clone wars and rebels that will be addressed in the remained of this series and the Ahsoka series...
But how many Mando watchers know all that? You have to take the whole audience with you, surely.

I think there's been enough balance that the more casual SW fan can still follow along, but I also know us more hard-core fans are always like "well in issue 17 of the comics it connects with season 3 episodes 4 and 5 of the cartoon series and if you'd have actually read and watched those you'd know..."

😆 🤣 😂

I think it's good that this show seems to be for the hard core fans, just not the casual views. Marvel has done DISNEY/MARVEL/STAR WARS has done so much to keep the casual view happy that it seems the core fans are forgotten...
But that’s not true, is it?

Seasons 1 and 2 were wildly popular with non-fan-boys (disclosure: occasional fan-girl writing).

I’ve watched pretty much every movie and TV show, some multiple times. I’m probably more hard core than the general population by an order of magnitude.

I also want to have Pedro’s children (but with a lot of practice first).

And they’re are losing my attention. I won’t be the only one.

I appreciate fan service as much as the next geek, but it can’t all be fan service.

Your opinion is NOT wrong, it's just what YOU are experiencing (my caps arent yelling, just emphasis)...
There is an italic and and underline option, hun.
Ever noticed how much Pedro, especially in THE LAST OF US looks like a young Burt Reynolds?
Sorry. Not really up on Burt Reynolds. I know the name, but had to Google him.

Agreed. And personally I thought they've been doing a good job of weaving in characters and threads from the animated shows while still making the story easy enough to follow.

Obviously your milage has varied.

<Indy’s daughter> It’s not the mileage, it’s the route. </Indy’s daughter>

If I, like many people, have no clue about the animated series, how can I appreciate the masterful interweaving?

And I didn’t have any of these issues with either season 1 or 2. Maybe there was a lot of masterful interweaving then as well, but it didn’t matter not knowing about it as the central narrative was compelling. The same can’t be said for season 3 so far.

This...sort of...reminds me of people who like Michael Keaton as Batman. If they knew anything about Bruce Wayne from the comic books, they would know that physically he was terrible as Bruce Wayne...
You are making my point for me beautifully.

Ohhh I'm happy to hear people liked Andor. I haven't seen it yet but (... ok don't hate me) Rogue One is my all time favorite star wars movie.
That ending... Cassian and Jyn holding each other 🥺😭

Andor may be the best written Star Wars property to date.

The beginning is a little slow, as SW tends to go; not a lot of space battles and PEW PEW.

But the characters and STORY? Chefs kiss.
