Is it the season or is there something in the water?

In the last few days, I've been contacted (mostly emails) by 8 to 10 friends that I haven't heard from in weeks or months. I'm not complaining because I love hearing from each one of them! (I'll be a bit behind in email for a few days though I think. ;)) But I'm curious if it is the spirit of the season causing people to catch up with old friends? Something in the water? Is anyone else noticing this pattern?

I may hate November, but I sure love December! :)

I wondered if that might have had an effect. But if it were all Sept 11th, I didn't think it would take 3 months to take effect!

We've been living with it every day since. The holidays just reinforce family and friends as a concept, so naturally, we all want to let everyone know how much we care.

You instictlively want to avoid that situation where the last thing you said was negative, or you had been out of touch, if the worst, the unthinkable were to happen.

I know each and every day since I have been more carefull to tell my family how much I love them every time I, or they, step out of the door.

Yes

I just got contacted by an old friend, hadn't heard from in eight years. Our whole circle lost touch with her, she was a free spirit that one day just took off yet again and was never heard from. She turned up in Seattle. So I got to email a bunch of people with "Guess who I found!" It's very cool.

Yes

Started hearing from "missing" friends since September, and the correspondence has just continued. The holiday season is a great "excuse" for getting reacquainted. And I have learned to appreciate friends and family more than I ever have before.:)

Yes, that's the spirit. And I'm going way out of my way to see them when before, if it was a little inconvenient...

I'm with you Bater. Its the season. I've going through my Christmas card list, adding some removing others, wondering what was going on with some. Where I've had email addys, I've sent "What's Up?" emails.

'Tis the season for me. This is definately the one time of year that most of my friends around the world will hear from me. Somehow, we get caught up in our busy lives, yet without failure every year at Christmas time I send "everyone" a Christmas card or make it a point to call them. I believe true friends understand this.
It is only my opinion, but I believe what happened Sept. 11th does have an effect on most. Made me more aware of not taking time for granite....making sure all my friends and family know just how much I love them all.

Hmmm... maybe it is a combination of it being the season for tidings and good cheer as well as the effect of Sept 11th. A double whammy catching many of us.

It's been said that "all things must pass", but we likely won't quite get past Sept 11th that easily. I think it's rather a comforting result that a lot of us are appreciating all the people we still have in our lives. Plus living day by day, which is a good idea at any rate! The attacks that were sent to defeat us have actually brought us closer together.
