Is it the category?

Yes.

My highest rated story also has the lowest number of votes and views. It has sufficient votes that a single 1 bomb won't really affect it, but it still is way down compared to my others.

It's in the chain story category.

Is the Lit story rating system skewed towards certain categories?
Lime,

I don't think so. Certain categories do attract more views and votes than other. However, the story better be what the readers want/expect.

Incest is famous for big numbers. A 4.70 vote won't even get you on the top 500 list. But Incest readers seem to prefer up-close-and-personal family affairs. Parent-child seems to do better than sibling which usually scores higher than extended family members such as cousins.

In Romance, views are scare but the readers are usually kind with their votes. BDSM readers on the other hand, seem to want to live out their fantasies by being a little rough.

In addition to what Rumple has said, I also find that diverging from what the reader wants will get a lower vote, so if your story is in an inappropriate category, then it probably won't do as well as if it were in the 'appropriate' category.

Hmm. I have little data, having posted only three stories so far.

But the category does seem to influence the number of views.

My first story was Romance and split into four chapters. The total number of views on all chapters is about 10,000. Each chapter has about twenty votes.

My second story, Sci-Fi&Fantasy has over 10,000 views. It's collected 41 votes to date.

Number three has about 7,000 views and 36 votes. It is in the Lesbian Sex category. This story was written just to write as I couldn't get to work on any of my other stuff.

Those are the stats. Draw your own conclusions.
