Is it possible for multiple paths to lead to two/three endings ONLY?

My first time posting in CHYOO boards, so bear with me... :)

I've fancied writing a story using the CHYOO format, and I have the skeleton of it worked out. Typical bet story where winner takes all - in this case, the wives. My thing is - I'd like it where every page is a result of the reader's actions. Choose correctly, and you're closer to winning. Choose incorrectly, and the closer the fictional opponent is to winning. Naturally, there would be juicy little bits of sexual tension going on in between.

My problem is: There are only three possible outcomes. Don't argue it.

The question is then: Is it possible to have a crazy number of possibilities, only to purposedly lead to a preset number of outcomes (final pages)? If you win, you get to read about the fun to be had. Lose, and you get to hear from your wife the next day about how good your competitor was. Tie, and well, that may very well be the best ending (and a treat for the reader who aims for it).

I know I could just post the endings repeatedly at the end of every possible outcome, but that seems like excessive work. I want it where, once the bet is over, the reader then goes on to the outcome page - the same page that is reached by a number of other possibilities.

I appreciate any and all feedback on this subject.

Maybe...

Hello,
I'd like to reply to this. You ask a good question. I have a question of my own though. Is this story going to be an open story or a closed one? Open means anybody can write for it. Closed means only you and whatever members you choose can write for it. If you make it open, it will be hard for the story to lead to the endings you want. If it's closed you control it all.

I know there is a feature called "link thread" but I have never tried it myself. I have read what other writers have said about the feature but from what I understand it has not worked. Check back in the feedback forum for the thread about linking threads.

CHoose Your Own Outcome

I don't see how you could pull it off. You could certainly write a closed chain of threads that lead to your three preselected endings, but you could not control, if you wanted to allow anyone else to add to the story, where they take it. That is the fun part of Chyoo is that someone will come up with a plot line, or twist that did not even cross your mind.

I think you should post your story, and write your three endings. Then see if anyone else can take the story somewhere you did not even imagine. That is why I enjoy Chyoo over more traditional linear stories.

In any event let me know if you do post it, I am curious now to read it.

:D

I have considered the aspect of allowing others to contribute. Obviously, that is one of the inherent charms of posting to CHYOO. If people like your story, or attack it from a different angle, they can run with it at a specific point to places you may never have even conceived.

My only qualm with this plotline in particular is that someone might add what I think of as the 'quickie' branch. You read a solid plotline and the action is good - but then you find an alternative that quickly ends the action (everybody cums) or is just a dead end. Fortunately, quickies are usually pretty easy to spot (a slow but deliciously developed story suddenly presents the option: "now give it to her in the ass!!!!!!!") :) I would rather have the opportunity to review those offered before allowing them to branch first.

Both of your points are totally valid though. I'll try and look into that "link thread" possibility, even if it is a bust. Thanks!

Chyoo does give you the ability to review all threads before you add them so if you don't like the authors idea you can reject it.
