Is it over?

I was curious to see the president defend his record. But what I saw was fairly chilling. An exposure to the facts rattled him badly.

It was appalling to see a lack of acquaintance with the bald facts, an inability to think on his feet, an a childish petulance when his lies and excuses didn't fly.

The president stands revealed by these debates as unfit to hold the office. Even when not on the spot, even with the whole cabinet to hold his hand, much of the last four years has betrayed the Bush team's lack of judgement. But the worst was to see Mr. Bush for the hollow and uninformed figurehead he is. Let's put him in for another term!

Kerry said he had a better plan, but there was little amplification. Kerry was at his best exposing Bush's record. But the debates are not really debates any more. To see the "better plan" I had to go look it up on the web. It doesn't satisfy me, but then I never imagined it would.

I agree with Cant about Bush, utterly embarrassing. He has no vocabulary to speak of, he cannot control his facial expressions, and he is adamant about not being wrong. I don't know how many times he said "it's hard work, really hard work", but I wanted to reply, "So what, you're the fucking president, it's supposed to be hard." He was extremely repetitive and often did not answer the question. I laughed each time (I think 3 or 4) he said Vladimir, vs. Putin, wanting to give the impression they were pals. He spoke of heads of states as "those people"; it says a lot. "I talk to those people all the time, we talk on the phone all the time." Yeah. Great.

Kerry needs more practice in real debate, but he came across as very intelligent on his feet, knowing an awful lot about every issue and topic, and very clear on process. He seems to have the 'big picture' and the wherewithal to be thoughtful about any piece of it. At the very least he came across to me as "commander-in-chief" material.

God I feel so out of this - being from the UK - but it is such an important time in the US that im fascinated by it - reading these threads is an eduacation for me - I know who I want to win - even if I dont really understand the whole thing - as I said before fascinating!

I saw a bit of it on the news. "Deer in headlights" is right, the guy makes me cringe.

Our leader had heart surgery today. He's fine. :)

One thing I can say is that I don't cringe when I see Tony speak. Sometimes when he smiles, yes, but not when he speaks.

He probably reads once in a while, too.

You lucky bastards.

Nobody really understands it, Goldie. It's just a dog-and-pony show, one big circus act. None of them means what they say and will say most anything to garner votes. When they take office, however, the power is real.

That's the scary thing about someone like Bush being elected. He's an uninformed spoiled brat from a powerful family who has never succeeded at anything legal.
