... do most porn/erotica writers find it
necessary to take a breather when they're
working on a story? Sometimes I find I
begin to respond to my own writing and
need to take a, uhm, break or something.

Keres Mi

If that WEREN'T the case, you would be doing it right!

I usually find I get through the first cut non-stop but the "squirm factor" is EXTREMELY high and then I must take that break. I then go back a day or two later and go through it several more times over some stretch of time.

Oddly, that is exactly the response I would like the readers of my stories to have!

That makes sense...

and I agree. It would be great for readers
to have the, uh, same response. But, I'd like
them to eventually get to the end of the story.

horny or not

I can look back and read my stuff and tell
whether I wrote it when I was horny or if writing
it made me horny. There's a definitely
different flavor depending.

Later,
Keres

I'm horny all the time, which probably explains why I write so many. I tend to agree with Mr_Neb if you weren't you probably wouldn't.

Carl.

When I am writing if it doesn't get me wet & randy, then I go back & rewrite it until it does. If I can't get myself turned on, how can I expect it to turn someone else on?

I don't always start out horny when I begin a story, but by the end I am either jumping hubbie or frigging myself off (if I haven't already half-way through the story).

If, by the time I finish writing a story, I find myself horny, then I can be fairly sure it's a good one.
Unfortunately, I do most of my writing an hour before work (the best time for me to write)so some times it can be quite--uh--frustrating...

A little worried now...

I found that whenever I wrote a sex scene for "Hostile Takeover" (my only posted story) I got very aroused indeed, which was troublesome because some of the scenes took a few days to complete. ;)

Now on my second story, I'm finding that some of the scenes don't turn me on as much as others. Is personal arousal a reliable indication of how well written a scene is? I hope not!

Well, I suppose the true test is to have someone else read it. So...never mind! :chuckles: I'll wait for my volunteer editor friends to tell me.

Whisper,
The second story works for me...

OOOhhh, too much information, huh? :)

Now, did I get that damn "virgin" thing away from my name????

k.

Yeah!!!!! I'm experienced now. :D

hee, hee, hee...

I sometimes get myself hot and bothered when writing and like HotScribe, I also write for a short time before work (this is my writing time now), but I also write shortly before I go to bed. On my days off, it is difficult to write with my kids around (8 year olds are curious and can read too many words that I don't want to explain at this time in their life).

I find that sometimes I just have to walk away in the middle of what I am writing to stop and look back at it later about what I want to add or change. What is worse is that the scene I'm in the middle of is always running in the back of my head and an idea can pop up at anytime (and people at work wonder when I start to grin).

Another interesting thought is that just as I finish the story, I've exhausted the energy and the horney factor is gone (maybe that's why I have several unfinished stories on my hard drive). I can go back to the story and read it later, but I guess I want the story to leave me satisfied (hopefully after getting through some technical difficulties with getting the story to an editor, you'll be able to see a couple of examples soon).

I usually start writing in the evening, and write late into the night. Usually too late! My wife is asleep by the time I've exhausted the creative part of me, and any residual horniness I get from writing sexy sences is wasted, because, and I'm sure most of you can agree with her, being awakened for sex at 2 in the morning is not exactly welcome (at least most of the time!).

Well It would seem I'm in fine company. No
more worries. I do have a bad habit of thinking
of a good twist to a story, or sex scene, or
something juicy and forgetting it by the time
I get to a piece of paper to write it all down.

LOL

Aroused?

I find when I write my erotic stories, (Not Porn) I do also sometimes get aroused. Hmmmm, when I am working hard on putting together my oral scenes I tend to get abit squirmish. I find if I am aroused, I feel alot more in my writing. I let myself actually be there, and the words just flow. However, when I am working, I am my worst critique and I am always analyzing, fixing, adding...etc. But if I sit back and just read and forget all about my little imperfections and truly feel all I wrote, then, only then do I feel the need to ummmm.....never mind....leave it to your healty imaginations....

Here is a paragraph in my newest story Summer's Day. Tell me, how in the hell could I write this without being aroused. Enjoy :)

Ante felt her juices flow, as her arousal grew more intense. He lowered his head, taking in the heady scent of her woman-hood. Inhaling deeply, he became dizzy from the tantalizing aroma of her natural perfume. Ante wanted to taste her, drink every last drop of her delicious nectar. He spread the folds of her satiny lips, exposing her tiny pink inner lips. With the expertise and grace of a skilled lover, he brought Dezerae to greater heights of passion. His tongue sought out every fold, every ridge, as he enjoyed a long rewarding taste of her pussy. Back and forth his tongue rippled, up and over her clit then back and over. He nibbled the fleshy node gently, catching it playfully between his teeth. His tongue was stiff, almost rigid, as it glided along her slit, then back to her luscious mound. With an easy and natural fluidity, Ante's tongue slithered further down, slipping into Dezerae's nice wet pussy. He savored her bittersweet juices as his tongue probed deeply inside. Again and again, he delved inside her with his rigid tongue, reaching further with each new thrust.

Have a nice day, Hugs Katerina :D

 Damn!

Now look what you made me do! Now I have to clean the underside of my keyboard again. Well done and to the point Katerina.

I've found when writing that I sometimes need a little push to get me going. Just an image that brings a specific mood in the back of my mind helps to set the tone. I put it in the background of my desktop and when I hesitate while looking for the right word or trying to decide where to go or if I should just stop here, I filp to my inspiration and let my mind wander over the image. Unfortunately, this sometimes leads to further arousal and then I gotta go do something about it.

e2c:D

I think I am going to market a towel that attaches to the bottom of your keyboard or under the desk. That way these accidents don't get to expensive. They could fit the keyboard like a mattress pad.
Hmmm.
Where is the patent officer when you need him?
Or maybe a roll of towels attached under the chair. Thnat would work for the women as well. You know. Roll one out and you are ready to write.
A new use for the phrase...The Quicker Picker Upper.

Porn v. Erotica

I'm sure the topic has come up at least once, but since
Katerina did make a distinction, I thought I'd put in my
two cents worth.

I've always considered Adult Reading to be the "genre" and
modifiers such as porn, erotica, etc... to indicate varying
degrees of the same appetite.

What do y'all think?

Keres.

Oh Merelan, you had me almost falling off my chair in laughter..hehehe I think the quicker picker upper is the perfect solution.

Keres, there is a thread in the general board titled erotica verses porn. It pretty much covers your question here in this thread. But I think both style writings are needed. There are people out there, that like the more hard core type stories. Some need the Wham Bam story, no two ways about it. There are also those that like alot more detail, descriptives, passion. I need that, that is why I write the way I write. A person who craves a quick fast release would most likely not get through my stories. But if they took the time to read, they would not be disappointed. I like to build my scenes up, keep my readers rivited for awhile. Also women tend to get the passion and feelings across differently then men do. Men and women are different, there is no way we can write with the same passion, the same voice. So therefore, many varieties of stories are formed, keeping all readers very happy. Nuff said, have a nice day...hugs Kat :D

Sometimes I’ll take a errr... break just to help play out a hot scene in my mind.

i've got the fever

oh yea ... when i write erotica, i am always in the mood .. it kinda puts you in another level right?

it's different than real sex of course .. but almost as good though .. you get the rush ... and then the best is when you have real sex after you've written lol .. and i always want real sex after i've written .... :)
