Is it 'Gay' to Smoke?

I'll say this for the Onion, they lay about in all directions when they swing their cudgels. Given the current administrations waffling on Gay marriage, they might just use some of those PSA's...smoking is evil, donchaknow. :D

The first question in my mind was "what about girls who smoke?"
Are they 'gay' as well ?.
That ad was a load of ill-directed misinformation.
Thank God we don't get crap like that over here!

i know its not pc correct to smoke anywhere these days but hay i smoke and im deff not gay.
Did you read this in a book?

I'm so glad I live in Montreal. You can smoke...just outside. You'll be doing it with a crowd so it's all good :D

Didn't know it wasn't PC. Got the 'Village' too. Don't think all the guys there smoke, but what do I know.

Note to the Irony-impaired:

The Onion is a satirical humor paper and this is their video news outlet. The ad is a joke, making fun of anti-smoking campaigns and the teenage use of "gay" as a pejorative.

I mean, "Today Now!"?

I say its a wash.

For every teen who stops smoking after seeing the ads, one will start.

Tangentially, of the smokers under 40 I know, a lot more are gay men than heterosexuals. I do know one woman who gave it up for good when she got pregnant, so that may be a factor.

umm...

IT'S THE ONION!!!!

"I don't smoke 'cuz I don't wanna be a cock magnet." - :D

yeah, it's the Onion and is bullshit... but it's still not funny and fucking insulting.

It's not simple "bullshit". It's satire. Maybe a bit oblique, in that it mocks both the homophobia and tobacco-hypocrisy of the government at the same time, but the fact that some viewers took it as a legit news release offends me more than the use of the "f" word.

I do get sick and tired of humor that targets me and mine, and satire that is so subtle that the unwashed masses can't tell it from opinion.

I don't think that does us any favors.
