Powerful politicians and elected officials are above the law. They are almost never jailed or even investigated for their criminal activities.

And trust me, these are crimes that would get ordinary people multiple consecutive life sentences or even the death penalty.

Eric Holder is no exception.

If they do "get in trouble" for doing something wrong, they don't go to prison for it, they are usually just forced to step down from office under some theory or another. The public is told some contrived fairy tale as to why they are being removed from office.

Did you ever see the season of "24" where president Charles Logan was arrested for his direct complicity in that season's villainous plot? The next season he was under house arrest in a 10,000 square foot mansion, he did not go to prison and the public was not told the truth about his activities.

The story given to the public is that he simply resigned and retired from politics. It's a fictitious television show but that's the best analogy I could think of.

This same logic holds true for powerful elected representatives who are "caught" being involved in nefarious criminal conspiracies.
