She is now the No. 1 web favorite of China, with all of her information spread here and there in the everyday life of that country, especially after she has got a gold and a silver medal in the ongoing 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.

But she looks a white girl, not the Asian type, because her father is a white guy and a native of California, so some of us cool and rational Chinese still doubt her identity, despite she claimed a few years back she had dropped the nationality of the US and turned herself a citizen of China. While China do not permit its citizen to hold dual nationality, the US may tolerate that, as far as I know.

How can we find out her real identity? Is there anybody here in the forum who could give help? It is a problem that we want to solve, otherwise we cannot have a good sleep, haha.

With the fighting going on of the two Europen countries of beautiful girls the oil price has gone up, Mr Gainer, your extra dollar (if any) will be spent on the same amount of oil.
I am not a loser, because I have only a bike that I can still ride, even when you cannot push your old car forward when running out your oil.
I don't like Eileen Gu either, so the gold and silver medals we borrowed through her from the USA will be ten times returned to you poor guys, don't worry about that.

I thought that one had to give up any other citizenship to become a Chinese citizen. That was my understanding. I've tried looking it up on the internet, too, and it simply has her being noncommittal about it.

this thread has a lot more detail

two posts that answer the question. i didn't have much problem finding the sources but i am at a loss why the media (largely) refused to report the Chinese Consulate General's statement on the matter as reported by the BBC. He quite clearly states there have been amendments made to the rules of attaining citizenship and Ms Gu appears to come within those newer adjustments. China's goal was to have as many world-class athletes to represent them in the games, and at least 7 other americans have done so while retaining their American citizenship.
