The bones found last week have been positively identified as Caylee Anthony.

For the last several months people have been passing by that area, very near her parents house...and they were there the whole time.

From what is known it looks very much like the mother killed her daughter.

But I am hoping this wasn't the case.

But it doesn't look good.

How could someone do that to their own child? IF she did. And it looks the way.

The fact that she took an entire MONTH to report her daughter missing tells me everything I need to know about her character, whether she actually killed the baby or not.

I can't fathom it and I'm glad. I don't have any children, but I couldn't harm my dog or cats. I know someone is innocent till proven guilty, but her lawyer seems to have an uphill battle on his hands. Still, this sort of thing (infanticide) happens in the wild too and we must never forget that humans are also animals, despite our civilized exterior. That certainly doesn't excuse such behavour, but serves as a reminder.

Statistically, the most dangerous person to any child is its mother. Horrible, I realize, but that's what the numbers say.

Obviously, simply because no one else is around a child as much as mom is. When others are spending as much time with a child, their percentages go up too.

Sort of a no-brainer.

But what I don't get...is HOW could the mothers parents continue going along with their daughters outrageous story?

True, true. And if mom doesn't have much of a support system she has to absorb the entire stress of dealing with the child. Even the sweetest looking moppet can send you up a wall on occasion.

Don't I know it.

I used to have a t-shirt that said, "You can't scare me. I have children."

Yeah, but it seems that that grandparents were the primary caregivers...so I don't see how that argument can hold water.

:D As any parent will quickly attest, the wonder about child abuse is not that is so common, but that it is so rare. It's a real relief to give them back at 2:30 each afternoon, I can tell you!

my mum may be a tad eccentric but she ain't that bad.

well, apart from leaving me in the park that time, but i was 28 years old so...

:D

I am just wondering how/if the grandparents will continue to supports the daughters claims if they find the mothers fingerprints on the duct tape.

Duct tape?

I just got the headlines, didn't read in detail.

Damn.

:(

I do believe that the grandparents are idiots. They've raised this heartless, spoiled, lying woman and have always covered her ass, it seems. I think they'll continue to believe whatever nonsense she says.

So sad.

She has a history of lying about everything...she's changed her story numerous times and implicated people who didn't even know her or her child. She researched chloroform on the internet prior to the murder.

The woman is a psychopath and needs to be locked away for the rest of her miserable life.

Not defending the mother but there is something very fishy about this. Supposedly Equisearch covered that area in aug, water of not they don't miss much. They are the best. So I have to wonder if they were planted later.

From what I gather, the corpse was cleverly submerged and rose to the surface much later...possibly around the time of it's discovery. Often the gases generated by decomposition will cause a corpse to rise in water.

Since there was no "soft tissue" left, I suspect those gasses were long gone.

Anyone remember Susan Smith?

I used to think that the selfishness of women who thought their children a burden was a rarity. In a foolish, romantic way, I assumed that anyone who helped bring a child into the world would see what an incredible blessing they are, what an opportunity for wonder and vicarious joy.

You want to know what it's like to be a child again? Have one. ;)

But too often, children seem to be a burden for many. Especially single mothers or those who aren't ready and might have psychological issues. We've heard the cases of high school girls hiding pregnancy and giving birth in a school bathroom, only to try and flush the "embarrassment" away. I can only assume such girls come from dysfunctional families themselves. But I'm not offering Caylee's mother an easy out.

If she's found guilty -- and I predict she will be -- then, sorry, toots, but no sympathy for you. No appeals. No second chances.

Straight to the table where they strap you down and flick a little needle before sticking it in your arm.

Unfortunately, she'll probably earn just enough sympathy to get her a nice little room at the loony bin.

Casey Anthony is an expert at manipulating others. Other reasons could be that people have blind spots and see what they want to see, they're enablers, the whole family is dysfunctional.

It's a situation that's completely baffling

without an excuse that can justify her actions
It saddens me to think that a person could do that to any child much less their own...
So it goes....
