She doesn't have universal healthcare
She gets into fights with everyone around her
She's ruled by family dynasties
If things don't suit her she re-writes the ground rules
Her citizens are constantly being spied on by the authorities
She lies
She cheats
She's constantly telling everyone she's the greatest
She bullies her neighbours
She is still trying to fight off the colonial tag
She blames everyone else if things go wrong
She thinks having weapons is a sign of strength
She has very suspect elections
She has a very suspect legal system
She uses resources as if they will last forever
She has a corrupt corporate system
She constantly re-writes history
She bears grudges
She won't let old feuds die
She pushes herself beyond her capabilities
She's disruptive

and

She can't take criticism

Goodnight...

England still has a tribal monarchy. Cave-dwelling tea tipplers...

Pee Pee Raises the bar again!

Give the guy some credit.

I'm serious. Can you imagine the creativity and drive it must take to post threads that are consistently more stupid then the previous one?

Just think of the time he spent putting that list together.

Scary. Very scary.

Can't take criticism? Are you kidding? Free Speech is the First Amendment, and we exercise the hell out of it. The country was born of dissent. We grumble and argue and curse the country proudly. I gew up during Watergate and Vietnam, when hating the government was all the fad, and despite the current flag waving, still is. From Thomas Jefferson's advice on tearing down the government that strays from the country's goals, to Will Roger's tweaks of Congress to Jay Leno's nightly monolgue we've had nothing BUT criticism, from ourselves and others, for 230 years. It's a fucking national past-time you dildo.

What we can't stand is "Oh America just thinks it's sooooo great because they have all those big bombs and Jerry Springer is soooooo stupid and Disney blah-blah and aren't those Yankee accents funny blah-blah and they all think they're cowboys Yee-ha and they're just sooooooo arrogant because they think they're the policeman to the world blah-blah." That isn't criticism, that's Tonya Harding whining about her skates and how "it's not fair, it's just not fair!".

You want criticism? Take some lessons from us, Stinky. You don't criticize, you whine. That's okay. Complain about how "all conceited and junk" we are, while we go ahead and make sure no one kills you today.

All right, but apart from the sanitation, the medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, a fresh water system, and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?
Monty Python's Life of Brian

Gratutious hate of your superiors?

"She doesn't have universal healthcare"
Just the best in the world, and available to all.

"She gets into fights with everyone around her"
We haven't kicked the shit out of Canada or Mexico in years!

"She's ruled by family dynasties"
Sorry, the people rule here, not the fairy princes!

"If things don't suit her she re-writes the ground rules"
That Constitution thing has been around a while!

"Her citizens are constantly being spied on by the authorities"
Unlike London, there are no spy cameras in this country.

"She lies"
Some POLITICIANS lie, most get caught, some get impeached.

"She cheats"
Were we playing poker or something?????

"She's constantly telling everyone she's the greatest"
No...we say WE are the greatest !!! No argument there!

"She bullies her neighbours"
Ireland is not or neighbor...and we don't "bully" them.

"She is still trying to fight off the colonial tag"
"When in the course of human events..." been there, done that.

"She blames everyone else if things go wrong"
Perhaps, then we solve the problem as best we can ie Berlin airlift.

"She thinks having weapons is a sign of strength"
It is!!! In a knife fight, I'll take my 44 Mag.

"She has very suspect elections"
Please, the ONE election to which you refer was why the system was designed as it was

"She has a very suspect legal system"
Yeah, I suspect OJ did it, but the MoFo got off, didn't he?

"She uses resources as if they will last forever"
England has no cars? Didn't rape the coal fields until the North Sea strike???

"She has a corrupt corporate system"
Besides Enron, to which Corp. do you refer?

"She constantly re-writes history"
WE make history, yet still allow faded empires of the past the grace to hold their heads up, not OFF.

"She bears grudges"
Germany, Japan, Russia and, oh yeah those fucking "limeys"

"She won't let old feuds die"
Germany, Japan, Russia and, oh yeah those fucking "limeys"

"She pushes herself beyond her capabilities"
95% of all new technology has come from here in the last 100 years. Blow out your candle, and say good night!!

"She's disruptive"
And saucey, irreverant, funny, forgiving and the best friend Europe has ever had or will hope to have. We, the people of the US have far more power than even we realize in the affairs of this nation. Mistakes can be made, we are not perfect, but we are not so proud as to destroy ourselves, our nation nor our friends in vainglory.

PeePer, why don't you come over here, Texan and I, and maybe a couple other Literoticans, will show you "some really neat things" about America. I can't really volunteer Texan, but I'm sure he could come up with a little of an "schedule"!!
:D

And she kept certain island nations from having to learn to speak German, and goose step all over the place. Then there was the Russians, and a little thingy called NATO. Everyone was glad she was part of that group. I saw all those British tanks stationed in West Germany ready to defeat the Red Monster. *cough cough*

I heard about British health care. I pray to god we never get that here. And what the fuck is up with your guy's dental plan?

P_P_Man Your so funny....We learned everything from the Brits.......Another case of Hyper Power envy from an Empire that the sun set on many years ago....And Im still upset cause Prince Chuck had his x wife murdered!

I love my country. PP is exercising fee speech and making some observations. Instead making a first reaction of attacking him, should we not evaluate the merits? Are we not thinkers in the Jeffersonian tradition or are we merely swordcarrying warmongers? No one is perfect, should we listen, discuss and try to improve where arguments have merit, or just a have a barroom shouting match with anyone who disagrees with us?

We ought to listen to our brothers and sisters in England, Canada, Mexico and other friendly countries and be the best "brothers and sisters" that we can be. In many cases, they literally are our brothers and sisters after all. We ought to be more humble in dealing with the rest of the world. We are so isolated from the rest of the world except for Mexico and Canada (I'm glad we have such great neighbors :rose: ) that sometimes that clouds our perceptions and leads to inappropriate responses.

International politics and relations is such a difficult challenge that it's impossible to be perfect... there's always room for improvement. My hats off to all of the professionals that spend their lives trying to do the best they can for all of us. I'm glad that we (non-diplomats) have the opportunity to lend our voices to the debate.

We do have many stong points that refute what is listed, but they still make you think. What about a justice system that won't admit new DNA evidence on cases that were decided prior to the technology being available because no one "brings a case" forward. There's always room for improvement.

I'm proud of my country. One of the best things about our country is that we have free speech that encourages us to listen and discuss issues rather than skewer anyone who disagrees. I'm proud that we can talk about such things with diplomacy and balance.

The attacks of last fall have put us all on edge. When one is on edge and feeling stress where little stress was to be found before, one often interacts with a harder edge than if there was little stress. I can understand that to some degree, but we ought to still treat our friends as the friends that they are.

Then again, it's probably not a wise idea to tease a wounded tiger, even if he is a friend.

No. Not really. This isn't a first reaction. We've all know PP for a long time. We already know his merit. Welcome to the board.
