Is “SAFE SEX” an erection killer in a story ?

I’m new here – I’ve posted both some real experiences and some of my sexual fantasies on a few websites before – but a friend suggested that they were good enough for a proper erotic story site like this – even thou English is not my native language.

So far I’ve only posted here some actual experiences – but I have many sexual fantasy ideas I’d very much like to write about.

I mentioned condoms in my posts so far - because this is what actually happened – but some of the feedback and comments I have received say that this spoils the story.

I guess I’d rather like advice as to should I not mention condoms in any future stories – is safe sex really an “erection killer” ?

Folks may be too worn out from earlier threads hashing this out to respond much.

Just write and post what you like here on Literotica concerning that--you'll get both supporters and detractors coming or going, whatever you do about it.

I am curious what others might think about this.

My instinct is to say It all depends on how you do it.

I keep coming back to some really good advice I've gotten on here and from my editor... ask Why? What purpose does it serve? Does it further the story in some way? This is fantasy land, so safe sex is not necessary. But a condom could potentially serve a specific purpose.

I guess you are right in that stories are supposed to be fantasy rather than “real life”.

But in reality - most people that have first time sex with others do use condoms.

Anyway – what I’ve wrote has been marked down and had negative comments because I mentioned condoms and it wasn’t “Bareback” :(

I can only repeat that it doesn't matter what you do, you will get criticized coming and going for this. If you can't live with that, I think you can figure out what you'll need to do.

In other words, move on, or move out. ;)

The use of condoms in a story can turn off a lot of readers. You have to decide if you're going for realism or fantasy. In realism, potential lovers take into account the consequences of their actions. In fantasy, it's all about the raw action, and fuck the condoms.

You aren't going to please everyone. Assume that basic truth, depend on it, and you'll be fine. No matter what you write, there is an audience for it. If you want to write what's true for you, kudos. I applaud that.

But if you write for the numbers, then get rid of the condoms, develop some incest fantasies, and get every female in your story pregnant, preferably by Dad or Son.

Because that'll get you LOTS of numbers. ;)

You can't please everybody. Some folk like bareback stories, some like realistic (and don't necessarily bother to comment). In the end, if you stick to writing what you like, the people who don't enjoy safe-sex stories will learn not to read your stuff and the people who do like that content will seek it out.

It's not like anybody's paying us for what we write here, so you might as well do what gives you pleasure to write.

1) I think it would be a public service to include safe sex - even the hard-core Training of O (something like that) videos show condoms!

2) as has been said, some readers like realistic -seeming stories. Who would lend their wife or even sub out w/o condoms, for instance - are dudes seeking std's?*

3) I will again parrot an above poster and say write what you like! :)

*Actually, I don't think men really care about STDs. Most, anyway. Given the chance they will almost always go w/o, even with a woman they do not know and do not even know if she is on birth control!

I haven't figured out why - or seen any studies on it. Guessing I would say that most are easily curable, the worst one is rare and harder to get from woman to man, and maybe even the ones that start with H are an acceptable downside? I don't know.

Maybe the men of lit can enlighten me.:)

To echo what others have said, it all depends on the story you write and how the detail drives that story forward. So-called "safe sex" is not more or less realistic, it is a fact and a part of sex today, but not all sex, for all people, all of the time. It may be more challenging to write fast paced and highly charged sex scenes where a condom must be used, but if that is the story, accept the challenge and use the condom.

Safe sex is not an erection killer in my opinion. I read a non-erotic story written when birth control was first becoming mainstream and the female characters were excited by the prospect of sex without fear of pregnancy, they exuded liberation, and in its own way, without being written to that purpose, it was sexy. Thus, why can't the use of a condom fuel the uninhibited sex in a story?

I guess I'm gonna have to play the odds. I've read thousands of stories on lit, and not once have I ever used a condom, and I'm still 100% STD free :D

If you truly believe readers show up at Lit, and don't know what an STD is, and how a condom prevents their transmission, I really doubt your safe sex story is going to educate them unless you go way past the simple telling of rolling a condom down a cock.

Don't get me wrong, if its written right, I have no issues with it. I just don't think its a fiction writer's job to give out sex ed advice.

I don't think safe sex has to be an erection killer. Not in erotica, and not in real life, either.

If you've ever had a woman put a condom on your cock using her mouth, you know what I mean. You can easily work that kind of erotic imagery into your story, if safe sex makes more sense for the scene and the characters. Of course, if reckless sex fits the story, then skip the condom.

I guess what I am saying is that the idea of a condom itself is neutral. Like any story prop, it can be used well or poorly. It all depends on whether you can write things so that the condom use is sexy.

I skimmed Piss Play in Hong Kong (skimmed because the subject matter is not up my alley) and you described the use of the condom as something integral to the experience. The condom "ballooned" with its contents, then you describe the appearance as something sexy. If you subtracted the condom it would be a different story. If it is integral and you want to keep your story as it is, by all means leave it.

The others above are right... do what you feel. Holding out for universal popularity is a failing proposition.

We need to go the whole hog with this.

Add exercise, adequate sleep, eat right, moderate alcohol, and include a lawyer to explain everyone's rights.

I can only speak for myself that it is a mood killer. I-and I assume the majority of readers here-know the difference between fantasy and reality and if they were in a r/l situation would use a condom.

But that is part of the attraction of erotic fantasy, that we can pretend the reality of std's and pregnancy doesn't exist. Its like watching the fast and the furious and having someone behind you ion the theater going "That car couldn't do that, no driver could do that etc... just go for the ride.

They turn me off in porn videos as well.

I'm all for a degree of realism in the story but when it comes to sex I, like many. look for fun and frivolous. I mean if you're going to use condoms why not have a scene where the woman goes to the bathroom and comes out saying "Oh, shit I just got my period" and the guy goes home?

But like others said, write what you want too and you'll find some that don;t mind, but you will take a lot of flack you just have to decide if you're okay with that.

And the woman should fart during anal sex, which in reality does happen from time to time.

Also, at least one chapter on paying their bills in a timely fashion and keeping their lawn neat. No, not trimming their pubes, their actual lawn.

Oh, hey I know! The kid can start banging on the door cause they had a nightmare, or they can get in an awkward position and fall off the bed or

The woman can get daring in the shower and jump up and wrap her legs around the guys waist, a staple scene in porn and erotica.

But see in porn the shower floor is not covered in soapy water their skin not slippery and the guy is expecting it.

So they do not fall backwards and shatter the glass doors of the shower and hit the floor.

Which is exactly what happened to my wife and I last summer.

$400 to fix the doors, and I had to get 11 stitches in my back from the broken glass and the wife sprained her wrist bracing herself when we fell.

Now that would make a sexy story.

Porn should read like a public health hygiene pamphlet.

And always end with a bang, like so:

This must have been awesome to explain to the ER staff.

You can't make up crap like that! :D Some of the best stories come out of real life experiences.

I think I covered ALL of these themes in "Stringed Instrument" at one point or another. I also had a performance discussion, and not the sexy kind. There really is an audience for just about everything.

Oh dear! - the next story I was going to submit does mention a fart :(

It’s got a watersports theme – which does sometimes involve a bit of “pushing” and the inevitable fart or two. But it’s hard to explain why they both burst out laughing during sex if I leave this out.

I guess less embarrassing than going to hospital after “Accidentally Sitting on a Foreign Object”? (not me! - a friend).

Though I guess it could be the basis of a hot gay story? – Sexy male nurse removes foreign object – patient becomes aroused – one thing leads to another?
