IP: logged

I was just wondering... what does the "IP: logged" thing at the bottom of each message mean? Could that be a potential security problem for me? Thanks in advance to anyone who knows and takes a sec to explain it me

It means if you do anything illegal, you can be found.

Your computer has an address just like the site does. It's referred to as an IP. It's not a security problem because it's not available to anyone but the WebMistress.

The IP: Logged link at the bottom of every post is only accessible to someone with administrator status. It is not likely to be a security risk for you.

It is included in the basic BB software so that the board operator has a record of who made each post, or at least where the post was made from. It's primary purpose seems to be as a warning to potential posters of illegal things that they can be tracked. I can't think of any other reason to advertise that the IP is being logged. It could just as easily be logged without notification.
