i notice a lot of new threads are being picked up by same group of people. My question goes out to new comers do you find it easy to join threads? or do you find it hard to find soemthing to join? and for experienced posters is there some optimum number of threads i person should try and limit themself to?

I know I start about as many as I join.

I totally am addicted to this place and I join stories where I think they have a good plot. I have noticed that alot of the same people join and I try not to strain my writing by going with the same people over and over again. In fact I have a habit of asking if the person I am writing with has gotten tired of me yet.

When I first came in though, I found everyone very accepting and ready to give me a chance to see what I can do...I love this place!

I love this place as well, but i don't want to post in a lot of threads because i don't think i'm a skilled enough scribe to be able to maintain lots of different scenarios at once......when i first came i was amazed at the quality of writing here so i was a bit intimidated when i wanted to join a thread. So i though i'd better choose some simpler ones to practice!

Too much?

When I first started posting, lo these many 'days' ago, I was concerned about fitting in, and being accepted by the regular posters. After all, it is a bit intimidating putting a "newbie" post in with the "Very, very experienced" and the "Literotica guru" posters. However, I have never been made to feel anything but welcome, and have received plenty of helpful advice. Having had a TON of experience with role-playing games certainly helps, but I think any new person should not hesitate to join in. All are truly welcome here, I've found.
Going back to the original topic of multiple postings, I have to admit I share some of Isolde's concerns. For now, my writing style seems fairly distinctive, so I worry that my characters sound too much alike. I hope that, with practice and advice (which is always welcome!), I can expand my repertoir of distinct characters.
And a short note to any member, new or old, always feel free to email me, my address is in my profile: ghenders@email.unc.edu or NealeHenderson42@netscape.net

Well from an "experienced" poster......
Personally I try to stay under 4 active threads at a time.
But everyone is different. there are a few that post to 6,7,or even more threads, and seem to have no problem.
There is no optimun number to set, it depends on what the person is comfortable with.

Personally, I don't have a number of threads I follow. It's a time limit. I limit myself to two hours on Lit, that's just enough time to get all of my writing done. If I go over, than I know I'm in too many, if I'm under, I know it's ok to start another one.
I guess it's how much time you want to invest in the story as well, you need to follow all of the plots and internal growths of each of your characters, and follow up with the plot and things. When I started out, I only went in two, then as I got the hang of it I went to three or more. I have no clue how many I'm on now.
4 here and 3 online RPing... that's 7, I believe.
Again, it's all up to you, but beware. Don't stratche yourself too thin, it hurts.

I quit srping because I noticed a horrible tendency in myself to lose interest in the thread when it's just straight sex or degenerates into just sex. Haven't figured out why.

So I'm limiting myself to my Society of the Dare thread. It look intimidating, but it's essentially new every round since it isn't exactly role play.

Weeell, I'm new myself (one and a half days) and I've already spent much more time here than is right n proper, so I reckon the trick must be to find yourself somewhere comfortable and to venture only when seriously enticed.

Intriguess, I find it funny that you started this conversation just now. Last week i would have given you a different answer. But this week, I posted to a new thread you started and since I've never posted in a thread with you before, I stated my interest and was waiting for a reply before just jumping in. While I waited, another more experienced poster jumped in and basiclly wrote out all other males from the thread. Should I have just written myself in to start with, or is it good manners to ask someone you haven't posted with before? Give me a little guidence here folks. I'm addicted to this board now, but I didn't know how to react to this development.

Me? It differs really...I was when I came back, supporting 10+ Threads...But that went down the hole quick cuzza Time constraints. *LMAO* LIke everyone says, it's what you're comfortable with...

And as for newbies, Hell I was a newbie too! I had to get respect!! *LMAO* AHh those were the GOOD ol days..

willywanker....you did post first but the more experienced poster e-mailed me before you posted saying how he'd like to join but it would have to wait until monday, and I agreed. I'm sorry otherwise I personally usually go on first cum first served basis unless I make a special note of it.

I'd suggest reading the first page of a couple long playing threads and see how others have incorporated their character into story line.
