I don't think this was a case of "whom", but rather "what"....the officer was stationed outside of the secure classified documents reading room, a highly secure room inside the Capitol. It would not surprise me in the least to find out deadly force was authorized to prevent access.

The victim was surrounded by other security personnel. He's lucky he didn't shoot another cop. There was no obvious communication between the police outside the door and the guard inside when they stepped aside to let the door be demolished. They should have known the guard inside is authorized to use deadly force, and frankly that was his only option in that situation. (I would fire too in his position.)

If anyone has to be held responsible on the defense side, then those three policemen who stepped aside, knowing what will likely happen. After that point it was all set to an inevitable result -- someone was going to be shot, and it just happened to be this woman. Hit in the neck, she was jumping up and down trying to get through the broken glass in the door, it's random.

This is the sick part; people actually enjoy watching people getting killed, enjoy sharing and pointing out the videos to others, and enjoy dwelling on the details.

With my limited knowledge, I do think the killing was justified. But what kind of human being enjoys the death of another person, and finds joy in bragging about the way it happened? It tells a lot about their personality.
