Are we being invaded?

The highest number of user on this site was six hundred and some few. A few minutes ago it was showing over 800 tonight and now it is over 900 and climbing.

Anyone have any idea what is going on?

It happens every so often -- th highest I've ssen this sort of attack go is about 1,000 "guests" a one time.

The numbrs usually get adjusted back to relfect actual users instead of automated "rippers."

It usually precedes the thread about new cases of stories being ripped off and posted eslewhere by about two weeks.

I'd bet if we started searching for pirated stories tomorrow we could cut the lag down to about 24 hours.

I'm all for having company and new friends, but the lag around here has been incredible on my end and really put me off to visiting much at all.

Yeah, the lag for me has been pretty bad too, and I have DSL! If I were on dial-up, I wouldn't post here. We have old phone lines the phone company refuses to fix, as a result our connection ends up being 26.3k instead of 56k.

I have DSL and sometimes I get exasperated when I try to go to a thread or my control panel or make some other move. It seems to take a long time to post anything or edit a post. I have been wondering about it and sometimes I give up and exit the site.

Right now it is fast enough but an hour ago it was slow.

You are funny ET, anywho sometimes one person (not me of course) can sometimes tie up the dinosaur days servers and wreak havoc on the site without meaning to (I really didn't) because I once broke a thread (don't tell manu) my friend tracked me down through the threads and asked me what was wrong with a thread nobody could post on, I went and looked at it, removed some stuff here and there (snip,snip, trim, trim, delete, delete) and then told her I fixed it (I didn't tell her I broke it) and then everybody lived happily ever after.
