INTRO TO KABALLAH

The Qabalah is a way of mystical knowledge dedicated to understanding
the
awesome forces of the self, the Universes, and the Godhead. Qabalists
explore the mysteries of creation to explain the origins of the
Universes and
everything in it. Their goal has always been to understand how the
dazzling
variety and “changeability” of creation - the spectrum of light and
colors,
the form of the human body, the structure of plants and snowflakes, the
alphabet, the numbers, and even the course of human history - are all
symbols
as well as tangible manifestations of a single divine reality.

The Kabbalah offers an alternative way of wisdom, knowledge and
understanding, looking to the heavens for visions of eternal truths and
principles of cosmic balance that, if applied on earth, would utterly
transform the world. The magic, the particular symbols and techniques
of
meditation, are all powerful ways to help us recognize that the
structures of
society all around us are not divinely created or inevitable, but
artificial
patterns imposed by private interests that hunger for power in our day
to day
reality.

For the Qabalah is neither a modern fad, nor an ancient superstition,
but a
great and complex philosophy of down to earth struggle cloaked in the
symbols of heaven. Yet in all its historical and theological
variations, the
Kabbalahs most crucial insights has been the belief that the most
powerful
sources of energy possessed by every community and individual lie not
in
blind obedience to earthly ideologies of power, but in transcendent
patterns
of cosmic harmony. Teachers and sages of Qabalah have produced a rich
literature of fact, speculation, meditation, prayer and practical
techniques
for harnessing the powers of heaven for community renewal, and
intensified
personal spirituality.

In every era the purpose of the Kabalists “otherworldly” adventures
have
been to help restore a shattered balance of power in the heavenly
worlds.
For that imbalance in the relationships of the metaphysical forces
tragically
generated in the earliest stages of creation is, they reverently
believe, the
root cause of all the bitter sufferings, violence and injustices of
human
history.

I think that if I have to begin studying this again, I will hunt you down and maim you. It gave me a headache the first time around. ;)

Of course I -was- only 14.

Damnit now I want to go back and read it again.

*skips off to dig out her books*

Yahweh loves me this I know,
For the Torah tells me so.

Thanks crystalhunting. The most knowledgeble works I've ever read on the subject were by Israel Regardie - not surprising since he was a former student of Aleister Crowley.

I would highly recommend reading "A Garden of Pomegranates: An Outline of the Qabalah" by Regardie as well as "The Qaballah Of ALEISTER CROWLEY" (by Crowley)

Regardie’s "The Tree of Life: A Study in Magic" is well worth the reading as well.
