The majority of people are super friendly. Really nice. I think alot depends on how much you enjoy local life and act like a local. Same goes for most places. Its easy enough to find partners for my gf. And for myself when my bi side is indulged.
 
So do they have gay bars? How do you meet men for both you and your GF? I remember sex shops when I was in China and female prostitutes outside the hotels, but gay sex seemed to be very off limits. Unlike Hong Kong, say. I love young Chinese men and have enjoyed their company here (Australia) and HK, but in China proper finding casual male partners was problematic.
 
There are gay bars, especially in big cities. She finds it easy to get guys in clubs or through Apps.
 
Great. I didn't find any except HK. Even the suggestion of same sex activity like dancing and fraternising was frowned upon at the hotels where I stayed - or maybe I was just being ultra cautious as I was on an official visit. When you stay anywhere in the west being pointed towards the local gay bar or massage parlour is no harder then finding a laundromat, but not in China. I also find it hard to read the signs with Asian men, especially given the non-sexual closeness they have culturally. You watch Kpop stars, for instance, touching each other and even sleeping in the same beds - it looks sexual, but usually it's not. My Korean ex-BF explained it as skinship which is a great word. Yet send them to Australia for work or study, and the same-sex attracted Asian guys just break free of the shackles. It's not uncommon for them to moonlight as sex workers to pay for tuition - I jokingly call my contributions 'foreign aid'.
