I have been writing for my whole life, I have been painting for perhaps a year. That being the case, please understand that I assert no merit in what I am going to post (worrying as I do whether I should not post it at all). I should also say that I am in awe of some quite marvellous art that I have seen posted here.

I continue strictly in the context set out above.

Many of the characters who appear in my writing are inspired by and to some extent based upon people I know well in day-to-day life. There may be some vague interest in seeing my artistic representations of these characters, and, who knows, perhaps even for the art in and of itself.

I start with ‘Sue’.View attachment 2327138View attachment 2327144

Really nice work! All of it! You add a new perspective, style and “hand” ( using the word as one would use “voice” when speaking of a writer’s work). Thank you for sharing your images. I hope we’ll see more!
That’s very kind, thank you very much.

Amy - the second version is perhaps somewhat unflattering, but I think it captures something truthful about her personality
I love the honesty…..I don’t know if I’ve seen another artist post what they consider, and SAY, is an unflattering image of someone. Unflattering or not, it is good art!

I agree, a tablet makes a big difference. It doesn't have to be top of the line, there are generics out there. I use a Huion and it serves me well.

I’m sorry if you already said this, but what medium are you using? A tablet?
Various. To be perfectly frank, I know so very little about art and techniques I am still experimenting and trying to find a style and a medium I like. I started on an iPad pro, then I moved to watercolour on canvas and/or decent grade paper, and now I am using watercolour and ink. One of the Kiki images was watercolour and ink and the rest are a combination of tablet or watercolour. (I am consistently baffled by the range of possibilities but because I just don’t have any accuracy at all I think many of them are beyond what I will ever be able to use.)

You’re doing a great job with every medium you’ve tried, in my opinion. (Especially the watercolor and ink.)
