Just because I'm idly curious, I was thinking about starting a thread and posting in it interviews with some of the foremost authors here on the site - DQS, Rheinqest, Matt Moreau, TX Tall Tales, Ohio and so on.

Basically just run down the Most Popular authors list and email them and ask if they'd be interested.

I don't know about you, but I'm deadly curious about why people write for lit, what their method is, where the idea's come from, what they think about their characters and so on.

What do you think? Should I give it a go? I was hoping that if you guys think it's a good idea, I could get a new forum link to put them in.

I think its time to pay your stories a little visit.

The troll awoke before dawn,
He put his boots on.
He paid a little visit to his brother,
And then he paid a visit to his sister,
And then he walked on down the hall.

It sounds like a good idea. Some other Web sites do it. It might be kicky to do them as essays to go into the story file so that readers who don't come to the forum might see and read them.

I thought about something along the lines of a by the numbers thread.

Authors could post when they started how many stories they have. What their highest score is how many H's if they have W's or E's what contest they won.

Their favorite story of theirs(and least) what authors they read and what their fav category is....

The problem is ego. It will turn to sniping and quickly

The moment anyone states how well they're doing, jealousy rears its ugly head and 1 bombs magically are given shortly after, or scores that will take them out of the top lists. Praise is usually the last thing most people here give to each other.

We're all amateurs in the scheme of things just trying to do better than we were yesterday. Getting a little pat on the back from peers goes a long way and does a lot more in helping become a good writer.

It would be ideal to have such a thread and have writers explain how they went from the start in their writing and how well they've improved. Wouldn't it be nice to see writers posting praises to those who helped them with suggestions and advice. Nice idea.

I saw a commercial today that features the gag from a story I sold 5 years ago. Now I don't know how or where they got the gag but its flattering to see my creation on national tv, and to know someone was impressed enough to steal it.

The gag is a smart phone that does everything but what its s'posed to do.

They went further when my daughters were in their early teens. Teddy Scares

Richard Feynman usta say that the way to measure your talent is to discover who you mimic. When he was a college grad he said his papers were like what Isaac Newton wrote, and as time passed he moved up the tree, until his thinking wasn't like anybody's. 'THAT CAN BE GOOD OR BAD!'

So basically imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

It and theft.

In school I usta decorate my books with those DRAW ME! cartoons of pirates and macaws and dogs and shit, and the other kids usta steal the goddamned book covers. Assholes!

I would think that would an excellent idea. In fact I will go so far as to say you can put my name on the list of potential author interviews to do once you have gone through the ones you "wanted" to do.
