What we had before was not a "fact society", we had a hegemony society, where the institutions dictated what was "fact". And getting out of that mental bog has been the best thing that have happened to human civilization since the reannisance.

In the choice between 20 contradicting points of view and one authorative, I know exactly what I'll choose.

:shrug: Either way we're pretty much screwed. It just means more people think they know the "truth" about issues they only understand through those sources. I'm with you that it's better to have options, but only if you take the time to explore as many as you can (and not just the ones that agree with you). :cool:

That's what makes some of the best managers and leaders the best.. They tend to surround themselves with people who think differently than they do, ask their opinions and actually listen to them.

-nods- Thats why JFK was successful as a president, surrounded himself with some of the brightest people for his cabinet. And honestly, Nixon as well for his Cabinet [just not his campaign advisors heh]
 
From the examples in the interview, it seems to me that he's basically written a book about how the Internet helps spread rumours and ideologies very quickly -- to use Richard Dawkins' language, it allows the rapid, unchecked spread of viral "memes".
 
I looked this up on Wiki and discovered that it's not a problem. That's true enough for me.
