Please bare with me and my rambling for a bit before I get to the interesting stuff lol.

Yes... I know I've not been around much for the past couple of years, I've had alot going on with my family/health/job etc but things seem to be settling down.

While I was away I had to quit my transition due to finances and the inability to get in to see my doctor to discuss some risks and such.

To make a long story short, my mom's mom was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Two of her sisters had it as well, and they dont know about the other sister since she died in the 1950's or something like that.

Anways... After she got that diagnosis I was afraid to continue taking Testosterone till I knew if that would increase my risk for breast cancer or not. I was pretty sure it wouldn't but I wanted to be safe. All I knew was that while I was on T my fibrocystic breast disease didn't bother me.

I got back in to see my doctor and she told me that being back on Testosterone will actually decrease my risk for breast cancer since it blocks Estrogen.

Here's where it gets interesting though, well... at least for me it does.
She wont help MtFs transition if they have a family history of breast cancer since putting them on Estrogen will elevate their risk.

First of all I wish you the bestest luck on the journey you are on. I know many Trans people, all MtF, so I know some of your struggles through them, though not directly the struggle you are fighting.

The interesting information you said was quite, well, interesting. It is well within a doctors juristiction to refuse treatment for whatever reason. Yes, i'm sure the new estrogen in the body can cause an elevation of risk of breast cancer, and I remember reading reports that estrogen after menopause can increase the risks of the cancer, but I know of no studies who have studied younger MtF with family history of breast cancer on estrogen, or whether the risks are the same as biological girls of the same age.

But like I said its her choice who she treats and whatnot, I'm just not sure of any solid studies that have proven this to be the case.

Thank you

I dont know if any studies have been done or not. I've known a few men that have had breast cancer though.
