Interesting Presidential thoughts (NOT political)

I'm not sure how well a business person could do. Politics is about leading and building consensus, not managing. Congress does not take orders from the President, and the President can't get anything done without Congress. Even the federal bureaucracy can hamstring a President through its own actions.

The subject of the above draft movement, is by all reports, a dictatorial manager. That would not work in government. He is also reportedly intolerant of fools. There goes relations with Congress.

I first heard these reservations when Steve Forbes and Ted Turner were mentioned for political jobs. I think they are valid.

Besides, wouldn't the stock market crash every two weeks or so if he were President? :)

And have our government run like Windows?

I'd rather have Steve Jobs :D

Except he's insane.

Steve is bonkers. Which is why Apple is successful.
Bill is ruthless. Which is why Microsoft is successful.
Take your pick.

Tidy website -- plain old HTML /CSS and ********** -- definitely not written using Microsoft site-builing tools.

I'd rather Richard Stallman were president

Ask yourself these questions.

How many businesses have failed in the last year?

How many governments have failed in the last year?

Then ask who we would prefer in charge.

When a government downsizes, the methods it uses aren't very pleasant.

The last guy who attempted to come in and run government with "the best and brightest" was Jimmy Carter. In short order, the Washington establishment hated Carter so bad that he could basically get nothing done and when he attempted to get anything of moment done, he screwed it up badly. He then went back to selling his pills.

But Government never downsizes? It needs to but it doesn't.

Saw this and thought of you guys. Whaddya think? He'd get my vote.

My favoured candidate

The Earl

I've met him a few times. He'd make a lousy president. Very little patience, a petulant attitude, and negative charisma. Characteristics only geeks find admirable.

Really, for political office, it's difficult to imagine a worse pool of talent to draw from than software executives.
